"Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" Thread

I think the only way that Fallon can be funny is to find his niche. Conan found his in quirky things like a masturbating bear, a raccoon with a rocket attached to its back, Triumph, Abe Vagota, and his "visiting" sketches. I don't think we'll see "Lick it for 10" again, but I think we'll see a lot more test runs before Fallon finds his place.
 
I was very critical of the first show, but his monologue was extremely improved, his guests are engaging, and he is far less nervous. No Conan, but he's starting to find niche.
 
i've watched some of the first three shows. he's still got the jitters but i think he's getting better.

i'd come back and watch again in a few weeks to see how he's doing. i think nbc wants him to succeed and will give him every chance to do so
 
I did not see improvement, I turned it off after the "monologue". Maybe it will get better in a month but I don't think Fallon is funny enough to hold an audience. I don't think NBC wants the 12-17 year old crowd his humor seems to be aimed at.

Chevy Chase is at least funny. Fallon doesn't have the writers or timing to be off the cuff. He was only decent at SNL because everything was rehearsed.

Not everybody can do a talk show, you need to be funny and different every night. I don't see Fallon being able to do that.

agreed, maybe he will adapt in a week or so but his show just sucks.
 
Agreed, he does look a bit nervous, but you have to give him a break, it's the first week. He was great on Weekend Update on SNL so you know he's got it in him, he just has to get the swing of it. I do miss conan though :(
 
Yesterdays was bad. What's with Cameron Diaz? She was trying to be funny and think she's all that. She was embarassing especially what she was wearing.:eek:

In the same vein, I don't see how Jay Leno has ever gotten a laugh. He's a cool car guy, and I like him. But his show and humor are just weak, watered down drivel.

Jimmy Fallon? Should last about as long as the Chevy Chase show.

Jay Leno doesn't have a funny bone in his body. I really don't understand how anyone finds him funny.

Can't wait for Conan to be back!
 
Jay should go to CBS. He's almost as unfunny as David Letterman, and that's a lot to say.
Jimmy on late night reminds me of that guy Craig Kilborn who came on after letterman.
Unfortunately, late night tv slots don't come and go. they stick around for years
 
I've been holding off in order to give him a chance considering I was an avid Conan fan but this new show sucks. It's worse than CBS's version of late-late night talk show. They should have gotten Carson Daily.

I found yesterday's Leno to be better than usual, way better than Fallon. However, saying that, neither are near the level of Conan. However, I'd take Leno and then Conan over Leno and then Fallon (or even Conan then Fallon). By the end of the year, when it goes The Jay Leno Show -> The Tonight Show With Conan -> Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, I'll only be tuning in for the first two.

I enjoy Craig Ferguson. His comedy is more pure then everyone else doing talk shows. Even Jimmy Kimmel is better than Fallon's show.

I see Fallon bringing down the rest of the lineup, Carson Daily will take even more of a hit than he already was.

I was optimistic when I shouldn't have been. Hopefully Conan's triumphant return in June will revive my faith in late-night talk shows. Until then, I'm turning off the tv at 11:00. (Which will probably be good for me :D)

Craig Ferguson is probably the funniest and best all-around talk show host.

Then perhaps Conan and Letterman tied (but for different reasons, of course)
Then Leno.
Then Carson Daly.

.....and then Kimmel.


I think I've given up on Kimmel for March. Maybe he'll be less boring next month.
 
Craig, as a recovering alcoholic, is self-deprecating, which is always a win-win.

Time for Dave to kick his ego to the curb, and let someone else have the 11:35 slot.
 
I never really got that into the show.. Some of it wasn't very funny so I stopped watching it. I guess it's "American humour" I never really understood.
