Brink on the 13 pro max getting very bored with my 12 pro max and this upgrade is burning a hole in my pocket 😂😂😂

The 6.1'' is not even that huge (due to longer aspect ratio)

I wonder - have you used a big phone? You usually get used to it. I thought my Xs Max was huge at first but after a few weeks it seemed normal. Now it's normal size for me, whereas previously I thought the iPhone 6s was normal-sized

And who knows what Apple might do in the future - they might find the sweet spot between the current 12 mini and the 12.

I'm not the person you're addressing but I did try and use a 6" Pixel 5 for several months to replace my iPhone 7 and I never really got used to the size.

I resigned myself to it but it always felt uncomfortable and never quite right. When I went back to the 7 because the Pixel broke it felt like a massive relief.

To answer your question, I probably could use a 6" phone if I absolutely have to, but I doubt it'll ever feel comfortably normal because my hands are unlikely to grow.

You know it's probably not that interesting a job to be the iPhone hardware designer (form factor) at this point.
I just hope they would consider design everything around a larger battery, not shrink the battery just to fit more stuff.

I would LOVE that!

But just as with my L7 I could not easily function with it for one reason. 2FA. Too much crap requires authenticators (my work included). I at least need something that supports these apps... all 6 of them I have to have installed to cover everything.

Apple already sell a phone smaller than that for people willing to pay extra for mobile voice/data plans and buy a device they won't use after setup Apple does, it's called the Apple Watch (cellular version). Sadly you do need an iPhone to set it up and I'm not sure you can get a cellular plan just for a watch, I think you have to add it as an option to a plan for a main phone although I might be wrong on that. Once set up though I believe that the Apple Watch can do data, messaging and voice calls even if the iPhone is out of range or presumably powered down in a drawer at home somewhere.

Unfortunately your 2FA issues sound particularly challenging with those 6 different apps that you need. I do actually use my Apple Watch a lot for 2FA but I'm lucky in that all my stuff uses the Google Authenticator scheme so I have installed the Authy app (which I prefer to Google's own app) on my watch so I always have my 2FA on my wrist.

All I'm seeing are small incremental updates.

I really hope this year we don't see Apple releasing 'COVID' product upgrades.

Same. Boring slow drip fed updates. Certainly not upgrading my 12pro- that was a minor enough upgrade user wise. No thanks Apple

I can tell you right now if there is no mini 13 I am seriously leaving Apple phones and finding something smaller.

Yeah, the choices suck but there must be something. I am just THAT sick of these huge ass phones.

I miss my Motorola L7.
Hey whatever suits your needs, I moved on when I figured iPhones were too expensive compared to the competition, my Xiaomi might not have all the bells ans whistle of an iPhone, but for 1/5th of the price does make calls, I can listen to Music, take pictures, email / browse web some gaming and so on.

For the privacy crowd, wich I am sure are saying "but but but your security, you privacy" I usually respond with, you are accountable for what you put online, if you do not want it to be shared, you a<re free not to, you are the one managing your privacy, just pick the services you like the most.

So power to you, if Apple does not make a product that suits your needs, you are very well entitled buying something that does, you won't be the first nor the last, it's the nice thing about having options!

There's been more than enough reliable leakers stating that there is a 2021 mini (these "dummies" that Apple sends out for accessory makers are further proof that it's still in the cards this year).

NEXT year's mini is in peril - we'll need to see strong sales of the model this year if it's to stay in the lineup.

The rumored focus on longer battery life with this year‘s Watch would surely support such an approach of using the Watch standalone. As it is today, you probably couldn’t get through the day (reliably) with LTE enabled.

Unfortunately people like you don’t consider that they also expose all of their contacts, without even asking for approval. And people in your contact list can not prevent this at all - so far for „managing your privacy“ …

Hopefully there is something worth while upgrading for, still can’t really see the point in parting ways with my iPhone X, other than the battery needs replacing.

Something that has really struck me about Apple in the last few years is their focus on making things look iconic and not necessarily minimalist. The notch on the iPhone, the chin on the new iMac, the stems on the airpods, and now the peculiar arrangement of lenses on the iPhones. They really aren't afraid of making stuff look a bit odd for the sake of it being distinct and instantly recognizable. I guess they've always done this, but it's just something I've noticed particularly in the last few years. They'd prefer to focus on that rather than on traditional minimalism. It seems they'd almost prefer it to look controversial, just so people talk about it and have it be embedded in the cultural dialogue.
Absolutely right. Here are your kudos, good man!

It's a mature product line, I don't really see a lot of revolutionary upgrades over in Android land either, with the possible exception of foldables if that's your thing.

I said this on another thread, the time of massive year-on-year upgrades is over. However, if you look at this with a longer personal upgrade cycle perspective the updates are not boring at all. The 12s/13 will be a massive update over my iPhone 7.

They just switch the cameras around so you can tell the difference between the 12 and 13

Why would you expect radical changes each year on a mature product line. Are there big things missing from the phones that you need? Do you normally upgrade each year? Many of us only upgrade every 3-4 years. Then the differences are dramatic.
