I like the idea of a software-based Home button that illuminates a thin ring upon pick up. Otherwise it's a completely smooth, buttonless, glass face. Tho, I do like the double-click haptic feedback when taking screen shots (simultaneously pressing Power + Home buttons).

Maybe, like watch, the entire face wakes on tap (or it's a setting). Maybe watch wearers auto-unlock iPhone.

That said, I'm sticking with my 6. Passed on +, so might as well wait for 8 - and I'm normally not the waiting type.

Bring the color black back!

Exactly.

Is this supposed to be an enticement to embrace the next iPhone design if it ends up looking like this?

How is this going to look in white and silver/gold/pink? Not as good I'll wager.

And iOS 10 doesn't really help with the 'Bender' effect.

Lol Apple should check with you first before removing anything to see if you are still using it, forget the other millions of people they sell to.
Well if the big benefit is to make the phone thinner - they could keep it

Honestly, it looks pretty slick. That being said. The 2 things I don't want is more fragmentation between the 4.7 and 5.5 inch models and I want fast charging and wireless charging. At the very least fast charging

Full waterproofing would be the main, possibly only draw for me to trade my 6S Plus in at this point. The hideous looking dual lens would have to offer unbelievable quality to lure me back to a huge phablet again. Otherwise my next trade will be for the smaller of the two iPhones.

Nothing will part the SE from my family, that one stays as a hand me down when I'm done with it, if Apple upgrades it. My plan is to use it until it wears out, if Apple doesn't offer an upgrade of the same size to replace it.

The antenna lines are looking better running along the edge but are still going to be ugly if they are not blended better with the body color.

I don't think we will see 3d pictures... otherwise when in landscape it won't work...and making 3d pics only in portrait mode is silly..
As an option why not... It will take a long time until they have a 4 lens camera :)

I feel that "The back of the new design renders double down on the Smart Connector rumor" has to be the most forced use of "double down" in a sentence, ever.

From a few feet away it looks like any other iPhone. Apple could certainly do better, but by recycling the same thing it assures maximum profits. Greed exemplified.

A product aesthetics should be redesigned when there's a benefit to be had from it. Apple isn't the only company that recycle designs, look at B&W for instance. Their speakers has remained largely unchanged in the looks area. But under the hood the speakers and cabinet has had improvements. With every release of any B&W speaker it sounds noticeably better. B&W makes some of the best speakers just like Apple makes some of the best phones and computers.

I and people who understand this are fine with the incremental changes in looks Apple gives us with each new release, because we understand the reasoning behind it.

This just feels…off…compared to the other renders. Not very Apple-like. It's unbalanced. I would be surprised if Apple goes software home button this early, but it does fit with raise to wake. You can't push a button you can't see, right? I mean you could, but that's not good design. I'd think if Apple did this, they'd wait until they reduce the top and bottom bezels some. And it just seems like a waste to have blank space next to the home button. Would be neat to add some other info down there, like temperature or calendar or something. But then that can just clutter up the device. Maybe it would be swipe-able to get to that info? Perhaps it could be similar to the Touch Bar on the new MacBooks? Maybe they're holding off on showing the new MacBooks because they'll do the same thing with the iPhone and the software home button, so they want to unveil them at the same event? But whew, new iPhones, MacBooks and Apple Watches in one event would be quite the show party!

One of the biggest problems I have with all these renders we've seen in past weeks is that the Smart Connector placement is completely wrong. The Smart Connector is on the edge of the iPad Pro, not in the middle of the back, and it would be the same if it's implemented on the iPhone. I'll go further, and speculate (and it is all just speculation at this point) that it would be on the same side as the Smart Connector on the iPad Pro, and not on the bottom (where it would be competing for space with the Lightning port, speakers, and potentially a 3.5 mm headphone jack).

Basically, I'm yet to see a render of the proposed iPhone 7 that convinces me. Most of them seem to be based on taking the existing iPhone 6(S) case, and adding and removing rumoured features, with no real concern about design. And despite the fact that none of this is from Apple, and much of it is speculative (or downright fantastical), Apple is condemned by some (and lauded by others) for a perceived lack of innovative design (or otherwise).

My advice is to wait until September to see what they actually do before leaping to conclusions about design, features, or the lack thereof.

Waiting for iPhone 8.

I hope not every iPhone 6 owner waits because I would like to pick up one in the first month or two after I pay close attention for any reports about issues with the device. If there's no significant/confirmed 'gate', I will go for it (my first non-s iPhone).

I'm willing to wager that he's in the majority. You'll find more people using wired headphones then wireless.
