We've seen a photograph of the product.

We've seen a video of the product.

Now we see a box of the product.

All show the same configuration.

How would you have faked each of these?

(And my original comment about this being fake was sarcasm. See!? I totally defended this from the beginning!)

Look at the Table...

The wood on the table is the same as what appeared to be the floor in the other pics and videos, so presumably it is from the same source as the others.

On a mini note... Apple has been placing FEWER ports on each new Mac recently. Why in the world would they put so many USB ports, while not using anything new ... like an eSATA port?

It is just someone who is getting off from all of the attention.

Someone posts a spy shot of the product. People say it's fake because it only shows one side.

Someone posts a 360° video of the product. People say it's fake because they don't show the top and bottom.

Someone posts a 360° video of the product that includes the top and bottom, people say its fake because they didn't show it hooked up and running.

Someone posts a 360° video of the product that includes the top and bottom and demos it running while hooked up to a monitor, people say it's fake because it could easily be another computer running the monitor

All the while, people are saying how easy it is to fake these things.

Then said product is released with the exact specs in the videos and pictures.

And people talk abut how they defended it from the beginning.

That being said, this picture is fake.

Great post. It seems that folks are quick to call things fake. I often wonder what the motivation is for people to post fake stuff. Attention I guess.

Has a spy shot ever been taken with an SLR or, even at the very least, with a decent camera phone?

Somehow I doubt Apple would let a SLR into their DEV labs. Probably photo phones are not permitted, but they area lot easier to sneak in unnoticed than a f..king great big SLR.

If I had to guess, I'd say there is an easy explanation as to why certain items are shrink wrapped. Time machine, Apple TV, Mighty Mouse, batteries and such that are shrink wrapped sit on the retail shelf. This keeps people from opening them to take a peek.

With Apple putting a large emphasis on package size in the last few years, I wouldn't be surprised if the new mini box was small enough to store on retail shelf in volume.

Funny! :D

There are more reasons to doubt this than what you listed, but still, the critical issue in discussing these rumors is what one's opinion is based on. If it's based on the patterns we've seen with past rumors/fakes/products/etc., then it's a sensible opinion. If it's just based on what the person really, really, really wants, then it's another thing altogether. I've seen a lot of the latter with this Mini rumor.

I still say this "new" Mini is fishy, even now that we have more purported spy shots. None of this follows Apple's past behavior with updates and we've seen fakes in the past that were every bit as convincing. If it's true, I'll happily admit to being wrong, but at least I had reasons for saying it was wrong and not simply going along with an emotional reaction.

I don't think it is fake. From the previous photo and video, it is reasonable.

I was hoping it'd go to the lip design of Time Capsule/Airport Base Stations and hide the optical slot in the lip like some previous rumors had indicated. If this box is true, then it looks like the design of the mini will remain the same.

Which one is fake or a prototype?

One of the two pictures of the "new mini" is fake...maybe. EVERYthing is the same (ports, logo placement, power button, etc.) except for one large thing, Vent numbers. There's 10 in the original image and video, but this latest "box" spyshot only has 9. Literally everything else is the same down to the smallest detail of logo placement, but the vent discrepancy is a major one. Also, the current mini has 10, so if the box is real then the video and first picture may be a prototype using the same amount of vents or the PSer just used the current Mini vents with new ports. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

Very true you have a good eye!

Ilife bulge

i think the bulge behind the ilife is because in is a picture of an ilife box. And someone brought up a point that this image looks like it was taken in a package room hence all the boxes and packaging equipment behind it so maybe an apple employee snapped this shot with their phone?

There is no table in this picture.......

Looks real to me. This appears to be the same guy who posted the video. Note the hardwood floor.

Can't believe all these "Fake" doubters. You can't even see clearly with all the evidence from additional photo's, video's, box's and you still said fake. Yah, you guys alway are right....
