We need a 32" 6K iMac. We don't need any more gimmicks.
For households with more than one person, it will be like "Who is speaking", and "you will need to authenticate on your iPhone"
Gods forbid if Tim Apple ever gets Siri to accomplish something more useful than turning on a light or playing a song. Gee, how about self-diagnosis of self-help with various software/hardware issues?
I actually wonder if this is the next homepod mini, focusing less on audio and more on siri and home automation improvements using on device apple AI to avoid the latency in requests that current homepods have among other things
I've heard this a lot recently, but it's so odd to me. Why are ppl not using these devices? I have an Echo dot, an echo show and an Google Home mini and use them day in and out...to stream news, turn stuff on and off, tell me what's going on with whether, find out how long it will take to get somewhere with traffic, find out what other shows someone has been in while watching TV...math stuff, facts...kinda endless.
Apple can’t even get Siri on HP working reliably. Zero confidence Apple getting Ai to work properly. It’s more like Apple is just rushing to get on the Ai bandwagon.

It’d need to function differently to be worth it. So for example, depending on what room it’s in, any video calls from saved contacts will be automatically accepted. So a seamless experience with calling loved ones and chatting with them. No fumbling to accept or anything.
Things like video calls, home automation, iMessage, etc appear on the lock screen with nothing to open or press.
Basically live widgets on the screen.

Then it won’t be mobile, we need a screen to be able to move and place it anywhere to communicate with any AI, like the ChatGPT. If you talk to your pod mini and ask a question, hopefully no longer Siri yes will tell you I’ll post it in your iPhone. It should be able to go on that screen if that’s true.
Would be nice, but its $8000+ starting price would relegate it to ultra-niche status.
So it's other stuff instead.

Either having a basic M3 chip, which is underpowered - or having a MacStudio (for M4max cooling) bolted to the back.
What you really want is a 32" 6K Studio Display. My Trashcan MacPro had a 30" display, and now I have a 32" display with MacStudio. I would never consider a 27 display; have one at the office.
The design is based on the G4, with the metal base plate and chrome linkage arm, but with a turned mahogany dome (that houses speakers) & a matching slim mount to hold the iPad securely without a big ugly bracket. Power is routed up through the linkage. I've got parts to make three of them once the first ones ironed out. I've been tinkering on the project as I find time for a few months, & figured when they're done I'll put two of the three up for sale here in the classifieds.

To be honest, I am not a fan of the 32" 6K Studio Display because of the large bezels. Otherwise, I would have purchased it when it came out years ago
First off, it needs to be G4 white. Then it needs to have ATV inside.
Then external speakers (maybe).
Don't see how you can get stereo sound with speakers the same container.
I have the 2021 ATV with 64 GB.
I was quite upset to learn the storage is only for apps and games.
If I want more than means a Mac mini.
Even at a higher price, I'm interested in the Asus Chromebox.
I'm already in the Google ecosystem with Android.
I can't really afford Apple and Tim probably doesn't care.
I will keep my iPad until it no longer runs.

I'd expect pricing to be the same as a Mac Studio + Pro Display XDR + the (of course) optional $999 stand. No way they'd let a 6K iMac be a better value for similar hardware.
I would not buy a HomePod right now ... especially with new chips and AI features ; it would be a shame to invest such capital to have it be leap frogged several months later ..... just a thought
See, that’s what most people get wrong. We don’t want a display + a Mac case. What we want is a seamless, minimal all in one desktop. I think that’s what OP meant too.
It's very sad that Apple have chased customers away with super premium pricing. Apple TV is a good example of this, great device but very overpriced for what it is.
