The only typo is likely the link to this prematurely posted page. I'm sure these pages are carefully screened for typos, and Apple often uses the same basic page for multiple postings. For this to be a typo involving the page contents, someone would have to intentionally change the page contents from the basic template.

Every time I have seen this in the past, it has always turned out to be a page accidentally posted too early, so I expect the same will apply here. Probably a MBP upgrade at WWDC, and a MB speed bump 2 weeks later.

i don't think it was a typo since why would they edit the page to start with if there was nothing to change cuz i don't think there was any new news at there page

I agree. Why would there by a typo? Why would apple be changing around the MacBook page to begin with if there wernt something to update.

Updates are imminent. Hopefully tomorrow for the MacBooks and MBP's.

The typo has been fixed on the hot news page. So much for getting so excited!

I got this image on the ''Hot news'' page and not on the regular mac page.

Maybe that was the idea :)
Tiny hint, ********s of confusion, few days back to normal and then BAM and here we go again :D

I think it was more an accident, and they posted something a few days early.

I'm going to be SO disappointed if the MBP's only get another stupid spec bump! I mean yes, that's all that really matters when I'm USING the computer, but when I'm just looking at it...I want MORE...

So according to an Apple employee over at Neowin (former staff), "I said there would be no MacBook update last week...those 'Sources' were full of crap. This week however...hmmm...could something be brewing in Cupertino?

Note: I'm not saying there will be an update tomorrow...I'm just saying isn't it 'odd.'" --Source: Neowin

Sounds like there will be an update soon :)

More....... What?

It'll be updated to Montevina, bringing the PM45 chipset, 1066 MHz front side bus, and up to 2.8 GHz processor (with the possibility of a quad-core in a couple months.) It'll get a video chip refresh, and to step out on a limb, it may get an SSD, it may get Blu-ray.

Is that what you were after, or are you hoping for a complete redesign?

1680x1050 option, maybe? Slightly lighter if at all possible and new GPU would be nice... then it just needs the keyboards now uniform to the Apple lineup and it should be all set really.

I'm going for the very next model... whatever it has, or doesn't have... though, I have been saying that since January 2006 :p

Yep, that would be a nice option on the 15". It would bring it closer to the DPI of the Hi-Res 17" MBP screen. Personally though, a new design is my number one hope. The fact that they changed nothing in the last revision (not even a larger touchpad for multi-touch) *hopefully* points to a new design this Summer.

Be careful my friend, you keep waiting long enough you may NEVER end up buying anything! ;)

Always waiting for the next upgrade can get addictive. Look around these forums and you'll see many talking about waiting for Nehalem even though Montevina hasn't been released yet. Even the current MBP's are more than powerful enough for my needs, it's only a prospective redesign that's preventing me from buying right now.

Haha, I know man... I've danced around MacBook Pro, buying every other option available (bar MacBook Air) in the last 3 years. One reason being I was anticipating a sub 15" Pro model, but once I saw we got the Air instead, I figured I'd have to get a 15 incher. Then eventually we received the Penryn Multi-touch model with boosted vRAM - but after being disappointed with the MBA and in the absence of a new MBP I'd already opted for a Mac Pro the day after the Macworld keynote!

Yes I forgot about the trackpad - definitely needs to see an enlargement. Hoping the newest model addresses that, and the keyboard layout (I've grown used to the new setup, wasn't originally a fan, but two MacBooks later I am converted :p) but really looking forward to power+portability.. I've had portability without power, power without portability.... I need the middle ground!

Yeah, my wanting more referred entirely to a new design-when I'm looking at it I want more. I have no problems with use and no specific performance upgrade desires(but hi-def standard would be nice), I just want the case modernized. Like the one side-view mockup people are throwing around, it needs to be 're-sexied' with MBA-style + Pro performance.

the great wait

It's on it's way soon if indeed it was a typo.

Eh? Oh well, time'll tell.

Meanwhile, MacHeads will be pacing the floor and biting their toenails waiting for the Next Big Thing. One thing's for sure, whatever it is, people will be posting here, "I'm guessing that in the next revision it'll finally have..."
