So, which aspect ratio will it be for the outer screen?
Inner screen: 2713 x 1920 ≅ 1:1.41 ≅ 16:11.3
Outer screen: 2088 x 1422 ≅ 1:1.47 ≅ 16:10.9

Green iPhone mini, blue the foldable outer screen at 5.25" (15% larger area, wider than a Pro Max):

It's close to a 6+/7+/8+ in area (only half a percent difference):

Maybe someone should tag Tim Cook and tell him to look at the comments here lol. I wonder if Apple actually does look these websites or online for feedback

You can easily tricks facial recognition by regular camera with a simple photo but you can’t trick a Face ID with the photo.
Apple will not do it.

But im okay with Touch ID , it works fine on iPad Air and I never had any major issues with it.

Haven't been able to trick the facial recognition on my Pixel with a photo. I'm also not worried about someone stealing my phone who also has a high resolution perfectly scaled photo to defeat the facial recognition. Is it as good as Face ID? No but it's good enough. It's great having both options available in addition to a PIN/passcode.

What could he possibly gleen from this mishmash of comments?!? That people want a bigger, smaller, thicker, thinner folding phone with both and neither Touch ID and Face ID…
That would be helpful. LOL

Not interested in a foldable. Even an Apple foldable.

I love the idea of the return of Touch ID though.

I dunno if it's my grubby fingers but i've always struggled with touch id. I have a se2 with what should be one of the latest versions of it and i reckon my fingerprint works maybe 40% of the time. I've added my right thumb multiple times and still the same.

Faceid works about 99% of the time.

On any of my windows laptops, fingerprint unlock works about 1% of the time. so in comparison, the iphone works a lot better but is still rather poor.

To be fair, I think it’s been made a point that people don’t want a thinner phone after the disaster of the last release and other issues in the past.

If the fold is as thick as 2 airs, that will be too thick for most people. I’m ok with 2x thick as the max (sans plateau). It just better not have a “plateau”.

+1 TouchID is unreliable in general and especially in the winter. By contrast, FaceID has been flawless for me since its debut in the iPhone X. I doubt this rumor as I don't see how Apple's top iPhone by price could omit FaceID. With all the cameras that exist today, you really don't want to type your passcode in public after TouchID fails.
Explain that to the people that own iPads. Those mainly use Touch ID. Not that I’m disagreeing with you, but clearly Apple is probably trying to categorize this phone into that same category. That or they are trying to identify whether people want it or not. And if they agree with the camera underneath the screen.

The samsung fold7 is 8.9mm folded up which is only .2mm thicker than a pro max; so that's the benchmark i expect apple to meet.

The fold 7 of course does have the mother of all camera bumps unfortunately

I've been a Galaxy Fold user since their 2nd gen, with my last being the Z Fold6 before I switched back to iPhone. The main reason was to be fully within the Mac ecosystem. I really miss the folding phone hardware, but prefer iOS. I'm hoping Apple doesn't screw up their first foldable...although I may wait for a second gen.

faceID does have an additional problem on a foldable device in that the phone can be used open or closed, which means two sets of sensors.
Additional issue would be Face ID punch out would be on one side of the inner screens.
Would create a weird asymmetry.

Thank you for the graphics, highly appreciate it!

So, this doesn’t look like it will be easy to use with one hand.

Completely false.

But enjoy the twisting yourself into a pretzel move when you unlock your phone 100 times a day.

Might be a shock to you but depends on the sun glasses.

It doesn't work with mine either (3 pairs) and it is freaking annoying in the summer.

Also with an apple watch linked to your iPhone, you won't have the need to use either to unlock.

Did Apple ever come out and say Touch ID was LESS secure than Face ID or maybe that was someone posting that…. If they did say that then do Touch ID only that’s def sending mixed messages….like mandatory you know who as the default browser smh

Im
Mostly curious abt overall weight like how does it compare to 16 pro max? This weight is just abt perfect. Not too heavy or light on features…but if they can do no platue /bump that’ll blow the minds of the masses imo.

And then finally cases. How wiould cases and screen protectors work..

All in all this new beefier iOS will be incredible I can already see this now…

Will pass on this - at least the first gen.
TouchID built into the power button is annoying - hate that on the iPad too. So I wont even consider this until it has FaceID.

Death of the FaceID is the only good rumor about this device, high time, I hate this stupid scanner and touch ID was 1000x better and more convenient. And it will even make device thinner? C’mon Apple, remove these stupid islands from main iPhones too! Samsungs look much better from the face with only single dot on the screen, not the dumb pill.

Lets face it, Face ID is function over form type of design. It is ugly, too geeky and complicated, who asked for this? Fingerprint authentication never disappointed me for example

Wish there are more rumors about the actual aspect ratio of both the internal and external screens. Lack of telephoto lens will be a huge disappointment. Also I will surely miss FaceID. Hopefully future versions will have FaceID and telephoto lens.

If the foldable iPhone doesn’t have Face ID, I won’t be interested. Going from Face ID on my iPhone and iPad M5 Pro to Touch ID on my M4 MacBook Air and iPad Mini feels so outdated and inconvenient. I wouldn’t want that on my main device that’s for sure.
