This game of controlled leaks before major releases to build up momentum is getting rather boring...

how about fixing os x 10.7 vista instead apple?

I'll take one 128GB WiFi+3G model in black please :D

I'm aiming for the 128gb wifi for $699..but is this realistic?

We'd be getting a screen upgrade, processor upgrade, and storage..somehow I think it will just be the first two.

all i have to say is if this really does come out screw spending 1500 or so for a new monitor ill just buy the ipad 3 for a spare monitor lol. yea 9.7 inches isnt big but the res is crazy.

if this does come out i will have to buy my first ipad

If the Retina display rumor is true, this is going to be a game changer. Go :apple:

I have all Mac products & have been using Apple products since the 80's, but I wouldn't call this a game changer.

Apple owns the tablet market, period.

My biggest disappoinment is the fact that Jobs got a Grammy award for music, & Apple is the leader in the industry for bringing us music to purchase on a per song basis.

But after 10 years, is it alot to ask for a company that is based around so much multi media to give us to 2 damn speakers for real stereo sound????

Valid point & would be nice.
I cant wait for idevices to embrace Thunderbolt...

I'm hoping this update gives me a reason to buy an iPad (again). I had the first one and ended up selling it. Maybe, I'll have a change of heart and get this one.

Yes. And it would still be about 1/4 thinner than the original iPad. The key "human factors" spec is weight. The biggest flaw of the original iPad was it's weight. The iPad 2 is almost the perfect heft; just a tad too heavy still. So, I would hope Apple would not backtrack here.

The key factor is battery life, then weight, then thickness.

I personally think the ipad2 was a little too thin; maybe by spreading the battery out, they'll distribute the weight better.

Yay! At this rate, we'll be able to build our own before the release...

Im really really really also hoping for a upgrade to 128gb...
64 doesnt cut it for a ipad. My 4s has enough for 64gb..but an ipad? No way...

Thicker

At least if it is thicker it is not going to be much thicker! I love the form factor on the iPad 2, HUGE improvement over the first iPad.

Do you guys think it is going to be called an iPad 3? Or do you think that they are going to market it like an upgrade fromt he iPad 2 but not the iPad 3? Kind of like they did with the 4S?

It seems possible that Apple could be using the new gorilla glass that is harder and thinner, to offset the shell size increase.

Gorilla Glass 2 to be precise. ;)

1g. But the A6 will be Dual Core not Quad. It won't make a difference. It will still be much quicker than the Dual A5. :apple:

I can't wait for my first iPad!

I have an iPhone 4 and I LOVE the retina display. I've played with my friends' iPad's, but I can't get used to the larger pixels.

If this one does come out with the retina display, I'm totally buying it. I've already started saving for it, just in case. I'm guessing $600 to $700 for the top of the line?

I'm not worried about the thickness too much. I would like the weight to drop a tad, and the battery to be as good or better.

$829.00, if you're going with the 3G+Wifi model.

Heres hoping that 32GB is the new entry NAND, that would make any MSRP delta (from the iPad 2) palatable.

PS: I was a total naysayer about the iPad, then I got the iPad 2 and it blew me away. Youll enjoy it friend!

It's sounding like the smart cover will still fit. Or maybe I'm just reading it like that since I want it to. :D

I think they'll still fit. I'm betting Apple wants to get the most out of their stock of smart-covers. And why not? If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)
