Does anyone else feel that the glossy coating on the 3Gs is somewhat different to the 3G? It's hard to put my finger on it, but it's like the light reflects differently on the 3Gs.
Yesterday I went to the Apple Mothership Store in Cupertino tu buy a dock for my 3G, and some other stuff... And a the time to pay I ask the guy behind the desk... "Is the new iPhone 3G-S gonna be physically diferent than the iPhone 3G?" Question that was gonna make me decide to buy or not the dock for my iPhone 3G....
Hes answer was: """MMM well I'm not sure... I think it is the same..."""
WHAT!!! maybe that means something... like the one in the pictures is not the one they are goin to release on JUNE 19...

That means he doens't know anything. He doesn't want to say "yes it fits for sure" and then afterwards you complain because it doesn't fit. He hasn't seen one in real, so he just can't be sure.
Apple didn't really mention anything about the dimensions this time I think. They just said it's the same case, right?
This case would have been much more appropriate for the 3G S.
a)it would have distinguished it from the 3G
b)it looks much nicer
Could be. We'll see in a few daysNice sleuthing by MR.
From that picture, it does look a bit less like a cheapo piece of PVC than the 3G does, but it could also be a function of the particular lighting conditions...
First off, I would have preferred a Matte case.
1) Maybe the leaked Matte case IS the iPhone 3G-S case, just unfinished and without the shiny coating
2) Maybe apple leaked a Matte case to gauge consumer opinion and reaction, and ultimately chose to keep the glossy finish
we may never know, but it sure is fun to speculate
The common iPhone user doesn't care about the case. The only people that care are those here who were looking at the leaked pictures. Got it? Apples target doesn't care... at all. My sister ordered the 3G S (typical customer) and she was thrilled about the look, and that it was $200 for the white one. MK?I think or at least IMO Apple isn't done with 3G S. Although it has been released I have the impression they will revamp the 3G S in 6 months, maybe in February. However I think that they are aware of peoples negativity to the current housing and should be trying to do something to appease them.

If the common iPhone user doesn't care, then why are people saying all over the net that they wish the leak was legit? Because they don't like it. Which means they don't like the appearance, which means they care.
We are the minority. See my signature, or the person I quoted below. The people here do not in any way, shape, or form represent any majority of Apple's customer base. The average, majority customer would never join a rumor forum, so what we want is not what others want, most others want what they get.If the common iPhone user doesn't care, then why are people saying all over the net that they wish the leak was legit? Because they don't like it. Which means they don't like the appearance, which means they care. Maybe not the people who don't read rumors don't care about the looks, but those who do read the rumors read them for one reason or another. I might be new to the forum, but I'm not stupid. I don't care to know about your sister and her thrill level with her new phone. All I was saying is that the reason why Apple possibly didn't update the look might have to do with the fact that the 3G is becoming extremely successful which is why they make a deal of it in their new Ad that it looks the same. Because it is selling. But the glossy back has its downfalls and a lot of people had their hopes up on the new back. Also the lack of an update is a marketing scheme because when a newer model comes out, regardless people are going to eat it up. Also it because of the success, it is too early to redesign.
I'm pretty sure we are a very small % of iphone owners. in fact, i'd say apple fanbois/gurls are a minority now. people buy the iphone like its a fashion accessory, and those people probably had no idea of the leaked matt image, or the black/dark bezel.
basically i agree with uberamd. i'd say the average user cares that the iphone looks good, but does not care enough about the phone to chase rumors on the internet and so has no idea that a matt finish was ever a possibility (if indeed it was, since, as one person has stated in a previous thread, with the right lighting the gloss back can be made to not look glossy when photographed. or that it simply hadn't had the gloss coating applied that it was always going to receive).
LOL, ansting operation. Nice!
Some poor Chinese guy is now getting the s**t beat out of him in a Communist labor camp.![]()
Don't worry guys, an insider source tells me that Apple will soon be unveiling a new "unibody" iPhone carved from a solid block of obsidian (black volcanic glass) harvested from the heart of an inactive volcano.
The unibody iPhone will be marketed as the "iPhone RAZR", with the tagline "Hot as magma, cool as Fonzi". It will retail for $1.00 (along with a 3-year contract with Cricket for only $108.00 a month).
Long time Apple fans will know that Apple used to revamp designs like crazy. Between 1998 and 2007 (roughly) there was a huge number of redesigns and at least four distinctive "eras" (the semi-translucent plastic in all colors of the rainbow era, the clear plastic era, the white era and the metal era). The iMac evolved from a rainbow colored blob to a lampshade to a white slab to an aluminium slab, and the last three of those happened with 2 year intervals (2002, 2004, 2006). They have *never* held on to designs as long as they have with the cheese grater PowerMac/Mac Pro... it's, what, 6 years old now? The Mac Mini is several years old too, and so is the Mighty Mouse. Not to mention the borderline antique ACD 30".
Look, people, if you want a matte iPhone, it's not that hard. Just get some masking tape and a sand blaster or some spray-on non-slip texture stuff or whatever.
iPhone 4 is gonna rock!
I wish they would have gone this route.. this is one of the main reasons I will not be upgrading to a 3G S, it looks EXACTLY the same as what I have now.. and I never used a video camera when I had it so the 3G S is a flop to me, although twice the processor speed would be nice it's not enough to convince me to upgrade.
Ah but then 3GS owners will be upgrading on the first day to the iPhone5UltraWhizzBang at no extra cost unlike iPhone 4 owners..Agreed.... and I'll be updating first day for no extra charge, unlike 3G S owners.
