I tried an Apple case... it was terrible. I put it in my pocket for a few minutes and came with endless lint attached. Just a poor untested design. I bought a thin Otterbox with a hardshell and it's been perfect.

The new silicone cases (for iPhone 12 series) are different. Much nicer to the touch and not attracting lint like that anymore.

It would be great if Apple can somehow find a way to make the phone in those colours.
Perhaps a film or something?
Should be cheap to develop?

I don't trust Apple cases. Otterbox symmetry works well for us. My partner is super clumsy and drops the phone daily on hardwood, at a 5ft fall. The phone is pristine.

Apple could do that. For some reason, they don't. It seemed to work well with the 5c. It would be nice to expand the phone colors past white, black, blue, green, and so-called red.

The size of the camera square is indeed bigger than the one in the 11/12; seems like the renders were right after all ...

Oh man, I was all ready to pick up one of the current "Kumquat" cases while they were still available to brighten up my iPhone 12 Mini but that yellow is gorgeous.

Gonna have to think this one over.

That's good to hear. I love the look of the Purple but have really preferred Apple's leather cases in the past due to how the silicone ones wear so poorly. Might have to give it a shot if they don't do a leather case in Amethyst.

I can't believe we've resorted to leaking phone CASES. What's next? A leak of the packaging for the case?

I’d like to try an Apple case but I’m too cheap. I know they fit well and have the magic logo and everything, but $49??!! That’s just crazy for something that should cost maybe $19, and that’s pushing it. It’s not like there’s anything high tech about it.
I don’t pay for Apple watch bands but I do pay for Apple leather cases. They are noticeably better than knock-offs.

Though I was able to find leftover blue cases for my 8+ for $20 each. So I bought 3, which combined should last as long as my phone.

The blue ones look really nice.

they look closer to the color of the blue iPhone 12 (reg and mini) than the current "deep navy" case does. i bought and returned that case because the color was darker and more muted than the phone itself.

It won’t look like that for long. The darker colors tend to discolor very quickly. What a shame too.
Yeah, but they just eventually become black, which isn’t such a bad thing.

The red cases really look bad as they age though.

I used to think the same thing, but I now I don't think this is correct.

Try an Apple case - go to an Apple store if you can, they let you try on any case. Compare it to a $19 case from Amazon. The Apple case is noticeably better, it fits better, it feels better. It's thinner where it needs to be and thicker where it needs to be.

Look at other cases on the market. Note all the "good" cases cost $40 or more. Mujo, Nomad, Woolnut, etc. The high-end stuff just costs that much.

Not saying it's necessary. 50% of the time my phone is naked. And in terms of drop protection, a $10 case is as good as a $50 case. But in terms of fit, finish, and aesthetic, the Apple cases are priced about right.
