Are these Anker products or the 3.99 stuff on eBay?
We've tried everything. Anker, Amazon Basics, Apple originals. Maybe it's just us. I don't get it. Like my dad has a cable for his iPhone 5s that is the only one that works with it--even brand new ones wouldn't work, but it doesn't work with mine at all. He finally switched to a Pixel. He loved the 5s and even had the battery replaced to keep it going but was tired of having so many charging issues. My iPhone 7 has been a PITA because something I believe is wrong actually with the iPhone lightning connector in the phone. It had an issue where it wouldn't work for data unless I bought a brand new cord (didn't matter which brand) and it would work for a few weeks (literally just a few weeks) and after that would only work for charging and not data, but now it won't work for data with any cable at all across many different devices (Macs/PCs) even with a brand new cable. Even before that, for a long time and endless AppleCare calls that got nowhere, I couldn't get either the Apple Health or Photos off of the phone. For a while it would connect to Image Capture long enough I could get some of the photos off, but now it won't connect at all. And it's literally 100% full. I've offloaded all of the apps, and it's full. I think either a combination of the phone being completely full and/or the battery being depleted (even though it says running at full speed (I can't remember the phrase under battery health). Anyhow, I can't even download the google photos app now to get the photos off via wi-fi because there's not enough space to download it. So I just use it to make phone calls now and that's it.
I made a decision I would never buy a phone again that doesn't have removable storage. I didn't have a lot of money, so I bought a Samsung A50. The camera is absolutely atrocious on it. It is worse than the iPhone 5s I had. But I will say this: Being able to quickly upload all photos and videos to Google Photos and just keep a permanent copy of them in physical form by swapping out the microSD card is super useful. I know Apple would never add a microSD card slot. But that would be the perfect phone for me: an iPhone with removable storage. I don't want to get into a long thing, but I absolutely do not trust Apple with online storage. Was burned with iTools, dotMac, and MobileMe. I trust Google to actually keep stuff for the long haul. And I was fine offloading stuff with a cable to my Mac and the an external drive, but it was a nightmare couple of years working with Apple tech support because it just didn't work most of the time until it worked none of the time.
Believe me, I prefer the iPhone. Maybe I and my family have had weird luck. I don't know. In fact I really would like to have a working iPhone because I'd like to get an Apple Watch. Right now my iPhone 7, which isn't *that* old, is not up to the task of supporting an Apple Watch. Like I said, it's 100% full, can't get any data off of it, it's 256 gb model, so that's a lot, and with my OCD about saving things not willing to wipe it. And it's pretty much unusably slow. I have animations turned off and just opening the phone app it takes a long time and will sometimes not respond to button presses for a long time. It randomly restarts as well even though in Battery Health it says it's never turned off due to power issues (but you can actually watch the battery run down on it in real time).
Sorry for a long response.
