I guess the asymmetry of the cameras is really bad. Worse than the notch on iPhones but on the back of the phone. I have a nothing phone 1 and I like the design. But this new design just needs some symmetry and it wouldn’t be horrific.
The problem isn't the lack of symmetry. That's actually cool looking.

The problem is that the cameras stick out the back. The phone needs to be thicker.

Number of times I’ve given a flying hot honk how much ram is in my iPhone since 2010: Zero.

This changes nothing.

Three out of four iPhone 17 models will feature more RAM than the equivalent iPhone 16 models, according to a new leak that aligns with previous rumors.

The all-new iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will each be equipped with 12GB of RAM, according to Fixed Focus Digital, an account with more than two million followers on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The account was seemingly first to reveal the name of the iPhone 16e before the device was announced, so their latest information has merit, but they do not have a lengthy track record yet.

The base model iPhone 17 will have 8GB of RAM, matching the amount included in all iPhone 16 models, according to the account.

Here is an overview of Fixed Focus Digital's RAM expectations:
  • iPhone 17: 8GB
  • iPhone 17 Air: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro: 12GB
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: 12GB
In April, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also said the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will each have 12GB of RAM. At the time, he was unsure if the base model iPhone 17 would have 8GB or 12GB of RAM, due to potential RAM supply constraints. He has not provided an update on that since then.

Here are the RAM amounts for iPhone 16 models:
  • iPhone 16: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 8GB
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 8GB

Love the fact that 2025 iPhone Pro has more RAM than the 2024 iPad Pro M4 which is physically 12GB for but artificially limited to 8GB usable except for its 2TB SKU

Good to see an increase in RAM for all models except the base. Apple Intelligence will be needing it at least in the future.

I find it pretty depressing that iPhones will soon equal desktop Macs for RAM in base configurations.

Seriously if Apple didn't steal $ on upgrades they would have 50% market share right now. Period.

The best example: MacStudio 16TB upgrade is 4600$ adjusted for VAT it's ~6k$. You can literally connect 45TB (I've them in my Win rendering rig, using for now only slow TB4 adapter) of latest Gen5 Kingston's DC3000ME 15.36TB server drives (~1800$ in retail with all EU taxes!). It's insane.
