ever since the 12' MacBook I wished apple will reduce the Air Thinness and weight while increase the performance of those intel Y processors...

if the next one will be that thin and weight a pound with the performance of apple silicon... it will be without a doubt the perfect notebook.

BTW, hope it will be named just MacBook.

Honestly I think it will be fine. I initially thought the white bezel on the new iMac's was going to be a problem but when seeing them in person the white bezel didn't take away from the screen at all.

If you've seen the 24 inch iMac in person and used it for a few minutes, you'll forget the white background. This will be a non-issue and I will purchase one if it gets a mini LED screen.

Ah, finally you could properly see again which keys you use regularly.

But seriously:
Office workers in brightly lit environments are also likely to warm to the same design attributes, while using apps with white backgrounds such as spreadsheets and word processors, which pair well with the light gray bezels.
What nonsense. In the office I'm working, about three quarters use dark mode, which would clash with the white borders. Aside from that, Microsoft hasn't added a white-on-dark mode for Word recently without a reason.

A white notch?! Black ok I can get because it’s hidden in some UI with the black of the display but white it going to be extremely distracting like a bird has S*** down the display!

It will stand out and reflect light back at you how is this even considered? Is apple purposely annoying people to move them onto the higher priced product.

looks ugly

it is another way for apple to make people move to expensive MacBook Pro.

MBA meant something for last 10 years or so, it is meant for everyone. Death to MBA.

Just rename it to MacBook be done with it.

so much efforts spend on putting colors on these machines instead concentrating on cooling fan, ports and 1080p webcam.

I think that the article is probably going to be right.

I’d accept the ‘black borders are for pros’ argument if the base level iPad released last month had a white bezel.

But even the silver body version has black bezels.

Ditto the iPhone SE and the regular iPhone.

I could just about accept the argument for the iMac having white bezels to be more seamless in home and office environments.

But does that really apply to a clamshell laptop?

Tbh it seems more a way for Apple to upsell people who are bothered about this to the MBP!

But who knows? Apple’s product lines seem to be a bit out of whack re their design iterations.

So maybe in 2022 we’ll see the base iPad & iPhones go to white / naked aluminium bezels whilst pro products get ‘serious’ colours with black/titanium bezels. ?‍♂️

Accountants are running the company now!
Let us see
Putting number of cores in the iPad specs
RAM details in the iPad specs
Apple events nowadays never able highlight user friendly features other than specs
list goes on...

The whole “office workers like light borders and creative professionals like dark borders” is amazingly ridiculous. I mean, have they even talked to their own employees, creative professionals who almost definitely use email on a daily basis? Most creative pros are going to need to use Word docs, spreadsheets, email, and creative suites. And they’ve been doing it on black-bordered machines for years without a problem. And most creative pros are using monitors, so color of the laptop bezels is mostly irrelevant. Not to mention, lots of casual users and non-creative office workers still use photoshop.

The bloke just goes iMac is in colours with white bezels so MacBook Air will be in colours with white bezels. There is no more to it.

There probably isn't any more to it.

The first M1 Air and 13" MBP were transitional products using the old design language. We've now seen the new design language for both consumer Macs with the 24" iMac (rainbow colours + white bezels) and the Pro-branded macs (silver/grey + black bezels) and there's every reason to expect that any new Macs released in the next 6 months or so will stick to that.

If Apple doesn't have a consistent design language planned for the first round of machines designed from the ground up for Apple Silicon then, frankly, they've lost the plot and there's no point in trying to engage in rational speculation about what they'll do.

The only question is "notch" or "no notch" (or "ears" or "no ears" if your glass is half-full). My speculation would be that ears are going to be a "pro" distinguishing feature or we'd have seen them on the 24" iMac. There's also the non-subjective issue that making a white notch disappear by lighting up the ears is going to be far harder to do convincingly than hiding a black notch (because you're trying to match the colour of a reflective object using an emissive display, whereas black is just no reflected/emitted light, plus the camera lens itself will be a dark circle).

However, the notch doesn't look like rational design to me - it may not be a deal-breaker but it adds an awful lot of complexity and potential compatibility issues for a very minor benefit (over using full-screen mode or auto-hiding the menu bar) - especially if you're then going to proceed to hide it (making it look just like a wide top bezel) at every opportunity - so, who knows... What Apple don't seem to learn is that if you're only going to have 2-3 basic laptop design concepts for an entire platform then they will have to be a compromise and you really don't want them to have divisive features (see also: all-USB-C designs and extreme ultra-low-travel keyboards, even without reliability issues, and the whole Mac Pro trashcan debacle).

Leakers Claim Next MacBook Air Will Have White Notch and Bezels, Here's Why They Could Be Right
Because Ive isn' there anymore and the janitor designed the new NotchBooks Pro and iMacs.

White notch... guess that's a good option for those who rather use a white menu bar. ?

thing about it ..
all these colorful MBA will sell in difference prices in the resale market also.

MBA design stood out for last 10 years or so, it was only harmed by Intel CPUs and apple's insists on not putting proper cooling for the same.

Needs SD Card. I can live with the white bezels.

iMac Pro will come in one size (27" or 30" maybe) and will have black bezels and MBP ports and more. Hopefully thicker machine than iMac with great speaker chambers with huge sound and all the ports on the back including one if not two high-impedance headphone ports.
