It always has been an option in the past.Related question...I plan on switching to Verizon from AT&T at launch, but I am wondering if anyone knows if porting over your old number during preorder is possible? I would like to keep my number when switching, but also want to upgrade ASAP. Thanks

I went from AT&T to Verizon with the iPhone 4s, and I'm probably going back to AT&T with the iPhone 5.
I live in a Verizon market that's had LTE for going on a year now, and Verizon's LTE network here is *nowhere* near as good as their voice network is. It's rare to get three bars or less on their voice network here. However, with their LTE network, it's not unusual to see one or two bars, which translates into LTE speeds that are 3mbps or slower (which makes AT&T's 4G network here about twice as fast). And if you drop back to Verizon's 3G network, god help you.
I know each market is different with their LTE coverage, but here (Virginia's largest city), Verizon's got enough LTE coverage to advertise it, but it's nowhere as good as you'd expect for Verizon (yet).
