Most mobile phones consist on a rectangular box with holes punched out on the back for cameras. Nothing to see here, nothing to worry about.

You might want to rethink that assertion. This is a cheap Chinese knockoff, so of course it'll be a crude replica of an iPhone. But there are plenty of companies innovating in the smartphone space. Ideas get "borrowed" between Apple and Android phone designs and features all the time, in both directions and for both hardware and software.

There’s also expensive iPhone knockoffs from Samsung, Google and HTC.

Not giving this a thumbs up, but a serious question is, all this for 150$? Still making profit on that, so how much is Apple making?
That would be a good question to ask if the two devices + services + warranty/support were in any way roughly comparable.

Why doesn't Apple sue this company? They went after Samsung (for years) but this LeBest crap is just a one-on-one copy.
The Chinese government always favours local companies over foreign companies in any kind of lawsuit, even if there is no way to deny IP infringement. For non-Chinese companies, it is only a waste of money to try to get the CCP to do the right thing and protect their intellectual property. This in turn encourages Chinese companies to basically base their portfolio on knockoffs, since they know for sure they'll get away with it.

I really don’t think Apple are innovating - their iPhone design has barely changed for years now. Apart from the flat edges, it’s essentially the same device.

This company aren’t copying Apple because of their innovation. They’re copying them because of the value of the brand/product and it saves them developing their own branding/designs .
I feel like you, like many people, have a wrong idea of what innovation means. Innovation isn't just "ooh shiny all-new thing completely different from before". Innovation is also finding new ways of doing something already done so as to significantly improve it. Just because the design language is similar (which is good, a constantly changing design language would break cohesion in the ecosystem and make upgrades jarring) doesn't mean "Apple isn't innovating".

I mean really bad at copying Apple and all, but priced at $150, which means the actually cost is even less, so how bloody much is Apple making when selling at $1500+ for a phone. Unless it's $1000 per phone on R&D.....

You're probably one of those people that think manufacturing cost is the only cost of a phone and the rest is profit, huh?

The price of an iPhone isn't just the phone itself, it's also iOS development costs, its included free services, mass shipping costs, regulatory expenses, marketing, warranty coverage, packaging and accessories, etc.

The reviews of these phones on YouTube are hilarious. They often have “three” lenses but sometimes they don’t actually work.

Why is it ok when Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi and every other android does it?
For the same reason an NBA player would have little issues with being dunked on by LeBron or Jordan or Shaq. They're worthy opponents. It would be an insult to be dunked on by some no name streetballer from the projects.

I can see Apple's reaction to these copycats.

I work in the technology sector.

Imagine how depressing it would be to dedicate a single minute of your life to building or marketing a copycat device.

What a pathetic, tragic waste of materials, energy, and human labour.
While you and I agree, the culture is that it is OK and even encouraged behavior.
Yes, pathetic.
