I second the thought that this would be a good! I have a BB 8310 and am waiting for the 3g Iphone to make the leap...

make the 'home' button backlit ... it could pulse if you missed a call/received a message

That seems much more sleek and would be a much preferred way for me.

The home button way is the best idea since most cases cover up every part of the iPhone besides the screen and the home button.
