Just save the extra money. You'll be keeping the monitor for years most likely so you should get something with that in mind.
US! I'm in the UK but thats for looking![]()
Have you tried searching for the specific model in a uk store comparable to newegg?
Yes I have briefly...
I found this which is around £250 but the contract is only 20000:1 http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitors/design/LS24TWHSUV/EN/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=specification
I'd love a 1920x1200 but they are too damn pricey! I may just buy an adapter for the one my Brother has and try his for a day. If the Applications work well I will get a 1920x1080, otherwise I will possibly wait until September when my student finance comes in (since there is now overtime at work)
Forget about comparing contrast ratios, the numbers are silly anyway.

If you can get a new T240 for £250 and want that resolution then get it. Otherwise you should look at the NEC EA231WMi and HP ZR24w. use something like Google's product search to find best prices in the UK.

After a long few days of looking i am going to buy this for me, http://www.pcbuyit.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=1154
It ticks all of the boxes for me. IPS, good colour reproduction, wall mountable, looks OK and has display port.
It is x1080 however I think I am just going to use my (future) mpb for photoshop palettes etc.
I dont think it will be a problem, certainly for the price.
Heres dells website ( this monitor is only a few months old) http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Displays/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=320-9270
Tell me what you think, im not going to buy it for 3 weeks so warn me if you feel fit.
Thanks
I will if I buy it...
I'm about to finish my exams an have saved a lot off money up over the years. So going to buy a lot of goodies. First mac
However I cant seem to justify the huge price jump for that different screen format (16:10).
Hi I will be brief;
I have found these on ebuyer that may be intrest to you, they are all over x1080 and reasonalbly priced.
However i have not looked into them and if i was buying now I would go with the dell. However I am going to look into some of them.

Oh and for 26" I think there IS a draw back somewhere.
You're in a tight spot it seems, as your work really would benefit on a 16:10 monitor, and one with an IPS based panel at that IMO.1,2 and 3 seem good for the price, however I'm not sure if the brand is of cheap or unreliable quality. Again the dell would be my choice but it's 16:9 and slightly bulky.
I know I'm being picky but I need to make sure Im 100% happy with what I get from both a design and technical perspective.
If I were to go for a 16:9 I would possibly look if Samsung had S-IPS Panels as these are far better than TN (and good design). Also depending on the price bracket and differences between a high quality 16:9 Vs a medium quality 16:10.
Thank you for looking into it for me ... Monitor searching is more than I thought but at least if you are thorough you learn about good panels and what goes into a good monitor as a future investment.

The problem is, the cheapest I can think of, is the HP LP2475w (cheapest UK price I located), but it's out of the budget you listed (which seems too small for the need really).
I hope you get it all sorted, and not dispense with something you truly need.I'm looking at what I can sellI really want 16:10 IPS !

Good luck.![]()
It might not seem like much, but that additional real-estate can make more of a difference than you might think.I don't need a 16:10 but it will make everything work better on screen in terms of toolbars etc. as there are many in ArchiCAD/CAD...

16:9 with professional software can not only look odd, but make you scroll around more if you need to focus on details for example.
Just a thought anyway.![]()
Hmmm, I think I would still put my money on the dell.
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...4&sku=320-9270 As its IPS panel, and a lot cheaper.
