You guys/gals are too funny.. there's always a back door to things..

Well I bought mine from ebay and it's still active after a month. I'll update this thread every month if I remember too.

I've read that AppleCare bought from eBay can appear legitimate and even register properly until you go to use it and find out it's not legit.

My advice: buy from an authorized reseller.

There was a HUUGE thread on this like last year that got closed. If you receive a sealed box and such, chances are you are 100% good to go.

Now if you get a code emailed, it WILL register fine. Problem is that maybe 4-8 months down the road, someone purchases a sealed AC from Apple (Best Buy, etc) and registers the SAME code, it will FREEZE both applecare accounts, and they will ask for proof of purchase, which would include the receipt, most likely a box and/or the TWO PIECES of registration papers inside the AC box that have serial/registration numbers on them.

I got my AC from an apple store for $239 for my 15" MBP. Student discount price is $239, I think retail is like $389 or something?

I checked on the seller you recommended above, he said he would send me the code via email, and mail me the box with everything in it and a proof of purchase receipt. He is also a AAR so Apple shouldn't dispute the receipt.
I will let the forum know if he doesn't follow through.
Thanks for your help!!:)

He wants $20 more for the box for me..
