You are all such nerds. I bet most of you watch Star Trek and Battle Star Galactica too.

:D

I lost interest somewhere around here:
window mobile ce os as ios is ios!!

Glad i'm not alone on that one...:D

When I listen to apple stuff, i don't want to hear it from an android fan to talk about it! Put Tom as the host!

Does your sig say you own a Asus running Windows 7?!?!? Hey when I come to MacRumors I don't want to see threads by people who use other OS's and hardware other than Apple!

PS: Yes he is a fan of OSX and Apple computers ;)

Very funny..nice catch.

Leo laporte is not a fanboy lol he is a tech guru like Chris pirillo. He owns all the latest gadgets. Including the iPhone 4. He said he drops calls alot so he uses his droid X. Big deal lol the guy is a very good show host and I quite enjoy the "TWiT" app. Anyone that loved the old tech tv, Is sure to enjoy this.

He says he really prefers games on the iPhone. He said the androids doesn't have games near as good. He really loves the iPhone, but he said he kept dropping calls. Big deal, I don't care what phone he uses. I just enjoy his broadcasts.

No he's not perfect and can say some off the wall things, but his podcasts are one of the best out there IMO

Glad i'm not the only one who noticed this. I've been a fan of TWIT for a while and lately Leo has driven me nuts. He won't let it die and had a field day over the antenna debacle. I too think he is a bit of Google fanboy, and he has admitted it on-air a few times. He loves Chrome and always gushes over it, and of course he loves his Nexus One and now Droid X. The guy must have four cell phones on three carriers right now. He is loaded I suppose. He has shown some love for the MacBook and iPad on a regular basis but has been a bit harsh on the iPhone 4. He has called Facetime a gimmick, and has ranted on and on about dropped calls. But the guy lives in San Francisco so from what I've heard that is par for the course. I just hate how he generalizes about his dropped calls as if the iPhone is to blame and that because he is having problems everyone must be as well.

Since he is an android fanboy, I think he should not host macbreak weekly. He is still Mac or os 10 fan I guess. He cannot sway me away from an iPhone with his opinions! When he does this week in windows, he doesn't dictate much or ... Android is that of window mobile ce os as ios is ios!! When I listen to apple stuff, i don't want to hear it from an android fan to talk about it! Put Tom as the host!

8.675/10.

As a PC guy, I remember having to listen to him promote Apple all the time. Now that I'm an iPhone user, now I have to listen to him promote Android. In all fairness, he has given the iPhone 4 major props but still keeps mentioning his Android.

Why is it hard for you to grasp the concept of INDEPENDENT THOUGHT?

Liking products and saying so is what GROWNUPS do. Same as calling out products when they have faults. And up till now the iphone as been weak as a phone, good at having aps.

Some of you guys sound like you sleep in :apple: beds and wear :apple: pajamas. We know a bunch of you have :apple: bumper stickers:D:D:D:D

While I don't always agree with Leo's opinions, it's my choice whether I continue to listen to his podcasts or not. And even though on yesterday's MacBreak Weekly Leo seemed particularly anti-Apple and anti-iPhone, it was still a fun listen because of the additional opinions by John Gruber and Andy Ihnatko. At one point, the two of them were ganging up on Leo. :D

If you don't like what the host is saying, then don't listen to the podcast. It's HIS show.

The only disappointing part for me is my belief that part of the reason Leo goes negative on Apple sometimes is because Apple has "dissed" him by not giving him invites to press events, etc. It's disappointing because Leo denies that has any impact on his opinions. But he's human and it seems impossible that it wouldn't have an impact on his feelings toward Apple. Andy teases him about this on just about every show. When it comes up that often, there has to be some truth to it.

Who is this "Leo" you speak of? :p

Leo have stated, "I am an Android fanboy!". He said once on Macbreak weekly and once or twice on This week in Google. He likes the openness of the android platform. He has dissed the iphone 4 quite a few times. He did make some compliments about the iphone 4, too. It bothers me that he who reports tech news does not saying correctly. For example, in this week google, he said that android has 95000 apps, when Google has reported 70,000 apps. Another example, he said that Steve Jobs said that he will only do a 15 min presentation during the conference and said it actually lasted over an hour. Not true! Steve Jobs said that he wanted to do a 15 min slide show bofore taking questions from the media. His slide show lasted 30 min. and 30 min from the media. I think Leo is doing too many shows!! Once he said that he is not really a true tech guru, but call himself one on the radio. He is no expert on tech stuff. He is just a big fan of tech. It is bias and won't say or go too negative toward google products. Why?

Leo Laporte used to be a good listen. Enjoyable. Informative.

However, now it seems he is prostituting himself, for a lack of a better word, trying to keep his Twit empire alive.

So on MacBreak Weekly, he is a Mac and iPhone fan. On Windows Weekly, he is a Windows and Android fan.

From my perspective, I have no problem with him being a fanboy of any product that he likes. But these days it seems like it's the flavor of the week for the show he is hosting and consistency suffers. For example about 3 months ago he was endorsing some software app. Best thing since sliced bread. Then a couple weeks later he was having trouble remembering the same app. Hence his shows are not as enjoyable as they used to be.

I agree, his ads/endorsements are so over-the-top that they aren't even believable anymore.

You're right, I used to enjoy him a lot more than I do now. Leo has become loud and rude, always interrupting people. His tone is a little condescending sometimes, depending solely on whether or not he agrees with you. However, the shows are still good depending on what guests are on.

i still think leo is an excellent host and macbreak weekly (that's the only one i listen to) is a very well produced show. definitely worth listening to.

but i gotta agree at some level with the OP. i don't mind if someone i follow gushes about an android phone, there are tons of great phones out there. but how far will this go? when android tablets are released, will he gush about those over the iPad? when chromium OS is released on netbooks, will he recommend those over MacBooks?

think about it. it's only a matter of time before the show becomes android weekly with mac guests.

He's not an Android fanboy. He's owned every iPhone and given them all a shot. Just because the phone doesn't work in his area and he doesn't like the antenna issue doesn't make him a fanboy.

The fact that there's a thread on here about this proves you're fanboys. Get over it. It's a phone not a bloody religion although you may think so.

Speak any English?

If you enjoyed Call For Help you'll like what he's doing now. He started an internet-only network called TWIT that has over a dozen different shows, with This Week In Tech (TWiT) and MacBreak Weekly being the stand-outs. They broadcast live streaming video as well as video and audio postcasts after the fact. He also still has a syndicated radio show which is more for newbies but a good listen sometimes (also available as a podcast).

Thanks for the info. I asked my son if he remember going to see Leo in person when my son 9 or 10 and he did. He also brought me up to date on the current things Leo is doing.

Not I, I am wise enough to know there is no socially redeeming value in those shows/movies. :p

.

Perhaps he can see the benefits offered by both, you seem to think he should love one format and promote only that but from what I recall of him he isn't like that. He's not really 'fanboy' material, though from the responses in this thread I can see there are fanboys some here! :D

You do make a valid point!

Leo Laporte is one of the most unbiased hosts out there. He's capable of being objective to all products. Guess what? Both Android and iOS support very capable devices, and Leo is able to see the good in both. His iPhone 4 dropped to many calls (a legitimate concern) so he switched to the Droid X (which he loves, and doesn't drop calls). He's not an Android fanboy, he's a fanboy of what works as advertised.

Kudos for your excellent post!

Leo is one of the best writers we have in the tech sector. He's smart, highly skilled, and the most unbiased "geek" in the blogosphere. I have the utmost respect for his work. He's been a great supporter of the Mac platform and a source of accurate information. He's the one true journalist that's not afraid to speak the truth, and not suck up to any company.
