People of my generation are dying off. I'm 21 years younger than Leonard , but he was an icon in my life. I don't know what to say at this moment other than I'm sad. Sad that none of us are immortal. I like most people think that we can go on forever, but we can't. I'm praying that there is a better existence beyond our human comprehension. I know I'm being a bit deep, please forgive me. I hate to think that our 80 years or so is this the end of us. Again, I apologize. Nimoy's death hit me real hard :(

I am just a little older than you, and understand exactly what you are saying Mr. McMac--

That's too bad. I've been watching the Blu Rays of the Original series, having been years since I last watched it. It really was a well made show.

It's interesting that he seemed to have embraced his Spock character so much. After the series was over. I guess he realized he was typecast and may as well enjoy it.

He's dead, Jim!

That was so inappropriate. I couldn't stop laughing. I'm still laughing a little.

That was a great scene and the bagpipes were very moving--

Personal story: that scene, along with the slugs coming out of Chekov's ear scared the crap out of me and gave me nightmares for MONTHS. I couldn't fall asleep the night I saw the scene where they sent Spock off, and for a good year I couldn't look at a Plymouth Reliant K whenever we passed one on the road. It reminded me of the USS Reliant.

In my defense, I was 8 when the movie came out!

Anyway, Great great man, Nimoy. If you get a chance to find his memoir, read it. His tale of barely making it out of the Holocaust is stuttering.

He was incredible, and I owned an 80-something Plymouth Reliant--

No cop will ever ticket one of them--;)

It would have been funny if they pulled one over and saw that Ricardo Montalban was driving! :D

Nimoy's last few tweets are are unforgettable. One of them:

@theRealNimoy said:
A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP

Remember this as we live from day to day.

Oh, hell, that scene freaked me out to no end when I was a kid.

Interesting that he had over a million Twitter followers and followed only 20.

Sorry. Perhaps I can make it up with
We are assembled here today to pay final respects to our honored dead. And yet it should be noted that in the midst of our sorrow, this death takes place in the shadow of new life, the sunrise of a new world; a world that our beloved comrade gave his life to protect and nourish. He did not feel this sacrifice a vain or empty one, and we will not debate his profound wisdom at these proceedings. Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most .... human.

I am not very emotional, but that choked me up listening to Shatner speak it--

Also very sad here.

It has to be said - he died from COPD, and he was a smoker for 30 years, and he only recently quit from what I've read.

Don't smoke.

I didn't want to mention it, but I can definitely see him doing one of those Yul Brynner posthumous "don't smoke" PSAs. Those did hit home after Brynner died in the 80s.

Article: Leonard Nimoy has lung disease, urges fans to quit smoking

"I quit smoking 30 yrs ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP," the living legend tweeted, adding his signature abbreviation for the half-Vulcan's "live long and prosper" motto.
