Ram

I'm more concerned about the RAM requirements...
I have one of the original G4 mini's running Panther. I have already upgraded the ram to 512mb once.

a 1 gig stick is ~$50.. is it worth it? Will the RAM make a huge difference when it comes to word, internet, IM, and some light iMovie?

I have both an imac g5 iSight and an 800 MHz iMac g4

Will the g4 be able to run leopard well?

TIA

not via the iMac's DVD drive. Possibly by booting the iMac in T-mode, connecting to the G5, and loading into the G4 drive by running the installer on the G5.

That's what I'll be trying with some of mine.

so you will be at 1.25 vs 512? That seems worth the $50 to me and will likely make quite a bit of difference, if not in the applications you mentioned, definitely in the finder.

It only has one memory bank, so I'd have to pull the 512mb stick. It would be ~$50 for 1 gig total instead of 512mb's.

I have an eMac 1Ghz G4 w/512MB RAM. I would like to run some apps that require 10.4, so I'm faced with buying either Tiger or Leopard.

Is Tiger more suitable or will Leopard do just fine?

Thanks in advance!

^^^ Tiger might me a bit smoother considering the 512 RAM and the poorer video capabilites of that model. I've got a 1.25 GHz eMac with 1 GB of RAM, that I might upgrade. I'll pull one of the 512's and see how it runs. PM me in a month or so.

"PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) "

will an iMac G4 800MHz be ok with 1G of ram? i know this might have been asked before but i want to make sure my dads computer will be ok.

thanks

It will definitely run it, but you may have to install via FW in T-mode from an officially-supported system

i got the same but with 1.5GB of RAM, Will the GPU run all the eye candy?

dude i got the same computer!, wait, does your 11 key stick a little too?

i think our computers will do leopard fine, with all the eye candy

G4 eMac with leopard

hey
how well do you reckon leopard will run on my emac, here are the specs.

G4 1Ghz
768MB RAM
32MB VRAM
max ram is 1 gig.

it is currently running tiger pretty fast, how well would it run leopard?
one of my main concerns is would it slow down the speed of programs such as photoshop or imovie/final cut?

more imovie than final cut

Is Leopard slower on that 1.25Ghz eMac?

I've got the 1.25Ghz eMac with 2gigs of RAM and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to Tiger or Leopard to Run the new Apple Logic Studio?

Is Leopard slowing your eMac down?

Much Thanks :)
