Tomorrow is October 1st, and there still hasn't been an official release candidate posted to ADC let alone any information about Leopard going gold. Therefore, unless Apple is foregoing a final round of feedback from the developer community, there's no way 10.5 will be on the shelves before the end of October. (And that's assuming the entire RC/GM process is completed this week.)

I thought I'd be getting excited as the time neared,
infact, I'm just getting more and more impatient.
I don't want a phone with a minimum cost of like £900 where I have to pay for my own ringtone and which I will probably get mugged of anyway.
I want a new Operating System, pronto

October 30. I have Kings of Leon tickets in Jacksonville (which is the closest Apple Store) that evening and Apple wants to save me the shipping costs (if there are any) and the time it would take to ship.

Thanks in advance, Apple!

Free shipping from the Apple website, no?

Yea I was going by the 31st as an announced date and then trickling into stores a few days later (Friday/Saturday). It's my understanding that there should be one more seed and that will likely be the GM as the last seed might be considered RC. I'm not sure just read it on Think Secret.

What kind of lead time do you think they need? I'm guessing the packaging is already being printed waiting on the DVD's to arrive then sealed and shipped.

As someone else said, yea they don't have consistent release dates so anything goes. I'm just hoping they put out a press release with the release date so we could all quit guessing! Let's hope they don't let the date slip.

Trickling into the sotres a few days later?? I don't think so. The last 2 OS X releases have been "events" with the Apple Stores closing for a few hours to get ready, lines of people, and giveaways. No way will this be a trickle out sort of affair.

Will be Tuesday 30th - they always do these things on a Tuesday so they'll announce it tomorrow and add a countdown on the apple.com

So the question is do I backup my apps and do a clean install or go for the upgrade. Hmmmm.

Here's hoping they make a download option too... :)

Or maybe they'll tie it in with a Halloween theme and aim for midnight of the 31st :p

Tiger was released on a Friday and I believe Panther was as well.

Go by the numbers....

I have a friend who is really into number theories...

I think Apple will release in this fashion...

Announcment of "Apple Event" and count down timer on website - 10/5/07

First Event - 10/10 release of new Macbook's and Macbook Pro's (maybe Macbook Mini??)

Announcment of second "Apple Event" and count down timer on website - 10/15/07

Second Event - 10/30 Leopard release

Why...

10.5 could be 10+5=15 and 15+15=30

Crazy, but just crazy enough to be true!!!

I tend not to like the theories putting Leopard at the end of the month because, well, that's a bloody long time away, however I will ignore this as I like the idea of new Macbook Pros - however unlikely that may be :)
Did anybody see the diagram of the new laptops?
Brushed aluminium chassis with the same black surround around the screen as the iMac.
Looks rather fetching.
:apple:

I'm thinking that it'll be out on the 29th.

Apple announced the iPhone for June and it came out on the 29th.

Apple told us that we would have Leopard this month, so they would be no surprise if they released it on the 29th.

I'm getting worried this thing will be pushed into November. I want it ASAP but I don't want any rough edges. I wanna be extremely impressed with it. Besides....I just got a hospital bill yesterday and nearly **** my pants.

question

I have a macbook with os x 10,4,1 and if i upgrade to leopard, will it come with an option to wipe the drive and do a fresh install???

I am a mac noob so please go easy on me!
