For me it works all the time except when I am wearing an old pair of Revo that I have. The require attention doesn’t see my eyes because they are so dark. The other pair of Revo I have are fine.

But impressed so far

Haven’t had a single failure in the four days I’ve had mine. One thing I don’t get though is the hidden notifications thing. I have attention aware features enabled but all content of my notifications is visible even if FaceID hasn’t recognized me. Is this something I have to enable somewhere?

I’d say for me, averaging over the last two weeks, over 95%. A few fails first day or two, before I turned off the attention required, but now almost 100%. It unlocks with hats, sunglasses, scarves, at angles (off to side), when flat on my desk, when I am eating, drinking, with a hand on my face, and so on. I love Face ID. For me it is far more reliable than Touch ID is (and can work with my touch sensitive gloves, too!)

All the time except in conditions beyond the technical limitation. Like when I'm covering my nose with my hand, or it's laying flat on the table.

for me the issue is less about complete failure to unlock, which, annoyingly, is about 10% of the time, but rather the time it takes to unlock, which is about twice as long as touch id 50-75% of the time.

Always works all the times

It might help to turn off the attention feature... from setting in face id

Yes. Go to Settings > Notifications > Show Previews > Choose “When Unlocked”

Didn’t work when I was yawning. Another time when I was in bed with my face partially covered by a pillow.
Other than that it’s been working.

I’m at about 90% but hoping my 10% fails are learning while entering my passcode.

I still have attention on. Trying to keep it on but if I can’t improve I will shut it down and then I know it will be close to 100%

Works every single time as intended. Better than fingerprint scanner on previous iPhones.

It is just not as good as Touch ID on the 7 and above. Maybe it will get better but it was a huge miss to launch without it under the screen.

I’ll tolerate it on the X because of the other advantages, but quite simply, Apple bundled in something that is a bit of a step back from a previous phone.

For some reason it’s doesnt work that great when I wake up in the morning.

for me, it always works.. and i mean every single time.

in my experience, it's more reliable than touchID because with my 6s, i'd have to enter a passcode at least once a day.. depending on what i was doing that day, often more.. (glue-ups especially).

i get it that others have different/opposite experiences and that i'm only providing anecdotal evidence but faceID is exceeding my expectations.

You need to go to notifications and set them to when unlocked instead of always.

I enjoy FaceID but for me, it’s a step back. TouchID worked flawlessly 99% of the time for me. It’s not infrequent that I see an animation with a face before my phone opens up. TouchID was always immediate.

I’ve even been comparing with my 6s I use for work and I’d say more than 50% of the time I’m at my home screen with the TouchID before my X.

Hopefully the fact that I’m running beta software is contributing to that delay. Not that I mind it terribly. The phone is terrific in every other aspect.
