Wow. I had no idea so many people were anti-landscape mode. I do almost all of my emails and texts with two thumbs in landscape mode. I also browse most forums and websites in landscape. My hands are too big to use two thumbs in portrait without it feeling awkward.

iO6 has "full screen" Safari, which will provide a significant bump in the amount of onscreen web content for both 3.5" and 4" iPhones.

Most people use landscape. The 15% that don't are just feeling unique about it and need to voice.

The human instinct responds much better to a widescreen format. We watch tv and movies in landscape, monitors have gone from portrait to landscape. It's much better and comfortable to type in landscape. If I had eligibility I would upgrade for it. Looking forward to my 5s.

Lol at the idea of typing with one thumb is ever gonna be as fast as typing with two. Its called logic. Two thumbs are faster than one. Fact.

I hate to get into a competition/tangent here - but I just have a hard time believing your "fact". I can absolutely type as fast with one thumb as fast as the phone can keep up and "process" what I'm typing.

I find it hard to believe that since I can type just as fast as the phone can keep up that two thumbs would be able to type faster. It's not like you can use two thumbs simultaneously and the phone can somehow process both.

Out of curiosity I found an iPhone typing-speed site.

www.iphonetypingtest.com

Of the three tests I did, I averaged 60 WPM.

That's faster than most people can type on a computer. And considering I'm temporarily using my very slow original iPhone right now, which gets overwhelmed by fast text input, I guarantee you I would be considerably faster on a new iPhone. I bet I could do 70-75 WPM on my 4S that I sold last month.

If you can consistently type considerably faster than me in landscape mode I will give you props. But in that case I would like a chance to counter on the new iPhone when I get it because I know I'll be faster than now.

And don't cheat by practicing all day first. ;)

Although with my 'yes', 'no', 'I'm coming over' type of messaging I rarely type in landscape mode, I can understand folks that do if they text a lot or regularly send messages half the size of a newspaper. It's undeniably quicker. But web browsing in landscape mode? Do people actually do that? That sounds almost as silly as full-screen web browsing on a PC or laptop (nobody actually does that anymore, right?). Anyhow, a longer screen does a lot for web browsing in portrait mode. And for a truckload of other things.

Oh ehm, nice going there james. It'll take a couple of years before I'll be able to keep up with the likes of you. :)

Hmmmm...was there some worldwide poll I missed? Otherwise, you're making a big assumption.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we don't have data to back up either.
