I am in the same category as many others in this thread. I do not do a ton of surfing or movie watching on my phone, so the amount of Data is not crazy important to me. I do however look up random things every now and then and want to it work crazy fast. LTE does this, so I want it in my next phone. The difference between 15 down and 5-7 down is massive.

So... You're saying my friends are secretly watching me and only send me new mail once I've checked the last message they sent me?

:D

They are out to waste all your data... it is a huge conspiracy... I know I am in on it :p

Once you have tried LTE, you need LTE!

That is 100% true... Coming from my place or my parents place to work is essentially going from Verizon LTE to 3G... 20-30 Mbps down to 1 Mbps

I still don't understand how people use so much data per month

Some people do it because they can, and the others must do a lot of video streaming. OR they do not have good wifi, or do not have wifi at all because they have unlimited data.

I wasted data by streaming netflix on my phone even if I wasn't watching it one month... before I dropped down to a 2 GB plan to save $60 a year... And I still only used around 4 Gb of Data.

I use my phone a lot, just not for video streaming, and I use less than 1.5 GB a month easy... usually right around 1.0-1.1 GB

BUT, if your emails load faster, you can respond faster, and get more new emails faster... its a viscous cycle that will never end... and your data usage average of 1.2 GB per month will increase to 1.23 GB (random number)... BE CAREFUL of LTE

I think you're grossly overstating this.

lol, it was a joke.

It is hard to convey tone through text... I was trying to be as sarcastic as possible, without crossing that line that it seems like I am an idiot, which is easy to do when we are talking about texts, emails, and such.

I'm currently sitting in my work vehicle on my iPhone. I use an LTE android tablet as a hotspot.

Verizon 3G (this is MUCH better then usual)

There is no comparison. The reason I need it is because .1 - .2 mbs is very typical aka nearly unusable. There's been plenty of times I'll just give up and put the phone back in my pocket.

If I was on AT&T with HPSA+ I wouldn't care as much. For me it's not being able to use more data faster it's just things take too long to load.

I personally can't wait for 4G. Many of my coworkers have Android smartphones with 4G capabilities; LTE has great coverage where I work. Our WiFi here is terrible, so it'll be nice to have decent speeds.. I will most likely be on WiFi when i'm home (25-30 Mbps down 5-6 up), so it'll be nice to have some decent speed while away from home.. What an ignorant post lol, "No, I wanna be on 3g foreverrrrr"

Yea, on Sprint 3G, my work phone usually gets only 0.5 Mbps... which is awful.

Could equally be said that anyone who needs unlimited data needs to use WiFi or another device and not a phone

I understand people's needs are different and so are the work flows and usage
No need to disparage one group just because it doesn't match your experience
I think you both are saying similar things, but differing
definitions of words got in the way.
There are people that can afford speed, and don't need it. There are people that can afford speed, and do need it. There are people that need it, but can't afford it. There are people that don't need it.
Wi-fi is still the fastest, all things being equal, no? And is available fairly widely.
So even many of those that need it but can't afford it have some possible access to speed.
And even those that can afford lt, can save some money if they care too.

LTE is the way to go, I get 40 Mb down sometimes. I could never go back to non LTE.

I am a relatively low data user, about 20 to 25 gigs a month, nothing much. Sometimes I dont even use that much.

The big issue I see with LTE is that it will encourage people to run up their data use. With the carriers raising the cost per GB and for overages, this can be an expensive deal. If you need it and can afford it fine, but it might be better to try using wi-fi when possible, even if it's a little slower.

Whoops

----------

To buy the iPhone outright to save my Verizon unlimited plan in preparation for 4G or use an upgrade and pay less for the phone, but lose my unlimited..... That is the question.

No Worries... :D

I would check your monthly data usage... see where you are at... Also are you on an individual plan or family plan?

Even more impressive than the number in the images is the amount of data usage it takes. Before I dumped the GSIII, speed tests used crazy data because the phone could.

you think 20 to 25 gigs a month makes you a low user...

LTE is a must. I've been counting the seconds until the LTE iPhone. I got the LTE iPad, and burned through my data in 3 days. So I returned it for a WiFi only model, with the plan to buy a LTE iPhone. I use my phone's data way more than my iPad's. I have an unlimited plan but I've never gone over 2gb on my phone. I figure it's a function of speed limit of 3g and the fact that I don't do data intensive stuff on my phone.

LTE is gonna make a lot of people mad lol. It's so fast they're gonna go thru it in about 2 weeks tops.

Not really for most people. The people who download a ton of things and are constantly going over, yes. People you use their phone to search something on safari here and there or stream pandora will use the exact same amount just get the answers faster.

I'd prefer a stronger 3G network than a faster one. Alot of times I don't get any data flows even though I'm showing 2-3 bars. And I bet with LTE, things will remain the same in terms of signal strength.

If it ends up being LTE 3gb capped or 3G unlimited, I will probably go the latter route.
