I'd prefer a stronger 3G network than a faster one. Alot of times I don't get any data flows even though I'm showing 2-3 bars. And I bet with LTE, things will remain the same in terms of signal strength.

If it ends up being LTE 3gb capped or 3G unlimited, I will probably go the latter route.

3G is already capped (throttled) at 3gb with the unlimited plan. LTE is capped (throttled) at 5gb with unlimited data, so you really benefit more from LTE plans.

LTE is great, but not at the expense of battery life. That's my hesitation regarding the new iPhone.

I'll let my fiancee get it and then I'll decide if I want to buy it.

I agree with that, I know a bunch of people with LTE phones... yet they do not ever use the LTE because of their battery life. I want to be able to leave it on all the time and not worry about it.

I still don't understand how people use so much data per month
Sitting around watching video sites that their work admin blocked because of too much bandwidth being used to watch video at work is my guess. Or teenagers who have their data paid for by parents, also youtubeing their lives away.

LTE is an amazing breakthrough for wireless broadband. The speeds are ridiculous and in addition i think it will definitely be a breakthrough when we start to see voice over LTE. HD calls and supposedly LTE manages load better. Time will tell but count me as excited.

I don't want LTE. I'd disable it if I had an LTE iPhone. I have a 200MB data plan, and LTE would just eat the battery faster.

I care, and to be honest, when I see these types of threads I wonder if people just post this to justify the iPhone not having it.

That is, I remember the apple stating that multitasking isn't needed and many folks bent over backwards stating that its not needed.

Given the high level of connectedness (is that a word ) having a fatter pipeline to push the data through is a huge plus.

I find multitasking very useful, especially when I accidentally click ads, but it's really annoying in certain apps. I always try to press the home button by instinct to hang up on the phone, and it continues. On a flip phone, hanging up was just so easy :)

I care about LTE, but I'm not looking to sign another two year contract to get it faster data speeds. I certainly see myself in the foreseeable future upgrading to a LTE iPhone, but if the next iPhone does in fact include LTE, I'm not going to jump to Verizon or AT&T to get it. The thing that matters to me is that my data works for the web sites and (mainly) apps that I use. Plus, I usually do the majority of my music downloading when I'm at home on wifi.

Especially when you consider the 1430 mAh battery.

The SIII had 2100 mAh and only lasted 9 to about 8. That's 50% than iPhone.

if u do 2 GB per smart phone, you will have the extra data from the members of the family plan who also do not use the fill 2 GB...

Right. They intend to upgrade to the new iPhone as well though lol. Not sure if 6gb is enough to share across 3 iPhones.

Apple waited so long for 4G radio chips to be more energy efficient. Should be okay.

But you just said you do not even use 2 GB yourself. Do you think they will use more data than you? Is the unlimited Data worth $450? That is the question... I thought it was not worth it to save $60 dollars a year...

LTE devours data. 5 gigs feels pedestrian let alone 3.

Yeah, the slow connection is actually nice for me. If I go on EDGE or I'm in a poor reception zone, I can click links on pages before the images load and waste my bandwidth.

A lot of people want 4G. Others don't need it and/or don't want it. Apple should go ahead and add it, but there had better be an OPTION to disable it!

The Nexus is great for my friend. He has unlimited Verizon data, so the LTE on the Nexus lets him use it faster, and the Google cloud stuff lets him stream his music over the 4G. Tethering is also a little easier on it, but he doesn't do it. It's not his data to waste :D

The iPhone is definitely designed to conserve data. Apple realizes that flash memory is cheaper than bandwidth. In some cases, though, bandwidth is free.

I use about 1.5 to 2 gb per month with 3G on my iPhone. I used 1.5 to 2 gb per month with LTE on my Razr. Nothing changed.

It's like data usage comparing dial up to cable. Granted I have more options with cable (Netflix, modern on line gaming etc) but I used the internet the same way I just could get stuff done faster.

Another difference aside from speed you can get stuff done is the options it opens. Better streaming that actually works and isn't constantly buffering. Things like that.

I don't really see the complaint here. Are people upset because they feel it's not their fault they can't control their data usage? If you don't change your habits your data usage won't change, if you start flying through web pages and YouTube videos then you'll use more data. Don't be upset with the technology, be upset with your inability to control yourself.

I think LTE is a joke for folks who have limited data plans and want to do any serious streaming. I really don't care that I could burn through my data plan in about an hour and a half.

I think LTE and cell phone carriers are moving in opposite directions: One supplying faster and faster speeds (which means more and faster data consumption) and the other restricting/throttling back on everyone's data plans.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this whole thing?

3 gigs or so is a normal afternoon at the park or beach. Nothing special even, just some slingplayer and some web surfing. maybe use logmein to log into work for a minute. But sitting at a park bench, have a bear (or a beer, your choice) and watch the girls jog by for a few hours and I have burned three gigs or so.

Thats kind of light usage I think. Not doing any serious work or anything, and not sitting there all day either.

I used to care. Now I don't. I could see that changing, but maybe not.
It's simply a question of necessity. Or, one of being unnecessary.

To be honest I could go either way with all this Apple Stuff going on, day after day, after day.

Thank goodness for the USPS. :apple:

LTE doesn't devour data, users who can't control themselves devour data. Doing the same things I do now, I doubt I'll use significantly more data with LTE.

Get an LTE phone and see. It's really amazing how fast it is. You'll burn through it like nothing.

well here in the UK we have truly unlimited data plans so LTE can't come soon enough.

Still, id rather have to live with HSDPA+ than have LTE but with limits.

I can't wait for LTE on the iPhone. My iPad already has unlimited Verizon LTE. Well worth it. :D
