Let's look at the real picture here - Do we really NEED Game Center?

You can remove the icon and any other stock icon by turning restrictions on for that app in settings.

Doesn't work for me. It disables the multiplayer match making tab, but the icon is still there. Also I don't see a way to remove the other Apple apps like Stocks and Weather...

I also would like to know what you guys are talking about when you say you can remove the apple apps with restrictions.

In the Settings App under General -> Restrictions. You can use this to trim out some of the Apple Apps, but not all.

Yes, I've used this to get rid of the YouTube icon since I use the mobile website interface.

As for the topic at hand, I actually kind of like Game Center, it's something to check out when you're bored. :D

You're right my bad, sorry.

I was mistaken.

Yeah I thought more could be done but I was wrong.

Hey I just remembered that the OP is the same one that complained about the retina display being too fuzzy and hard to read.

Yes, I was. I'm actually doubting on getting an retina iPad now that I have this 20 something inch cinema display and I STILL have the same issue. I'm not alone though, there are others with the same problem. You guys don't understand it because your eyes aren't about to die from staring at computer screens for the last two decades.

You sound like an angry bird!

Ha ha ha. Thanks. :D.

And okay, good that you can turn it off. And let us all remember that we have the iPhone because of the iPod, so it was exclusively always a phone AND music device. A lot of people don't use that function because of the App Store applications now, but that was how it was supposed to be in the beginning. I don't think a lot of people use the iPod Touch as a music player either actually.

Personally, I barely ever use it. But it's definitely a nice feature, and it's obviously not for everyone. I don't play many games on my iPhone. I have them, but I only play them when I have literally NOTHING better to do, which isn't always the case.

So yeah, I think that once more games roll out for game center people will start to use it more.

Yes. We need it to eliminate OpenFeint and Plus+ and Crystal and all that crap.

GameCenter is non-intrusive. You don't have to use it if you don't want to, and the games don't have those ugly badges in the icons.
