Don't take: booze (there is almost always a certainty that there is a cheap booze store nearby), and oversized crap; dorms are always small and having as little as possible helps inmemsely.
Take: Bed sheets and top cover. I never trusts dorm mattresses.
I would say rubbers, but I think the topic has been beaten to death now. Food, well it depends on the dorm's policy in food. These policies vary from place to place.
