But this the right thread to get a link to downloadable file as soon as there's one, isn't it?

Yes. The email isn't always instant (previous keynote, took two days for me to get mine), so you are far better just checking this thread only (bookmark it) about 2/3 hours after the keynote.

As is always the case with these events, someone is going to have to be brave enough to "take one for the team" and get exposed to spoilers in the course of getting the direct video link to us as soon as it appears. I, for one, am...

NOT-IT! Bwahahahaha...:D

Meh once we know we know but lets hope we know soon because I want to know what their is to know.

;)

Shotgun not me! :p

I suggest setting this thread as your homepage to avoid spoilers, and if someone has seen the keynote text updates, could they kindly come in here and give us the link when it's up - and don't hint to us what happened - don't say if it was good or not!! Thanks! :D

Well, ideally, someone who doesn't care about spoilers can do it.

In reality, people who don't care about spoilers don't understand the primeveal lust to watch the keynote as quick as possible with absolutely no spoilers.

But in the event I will be around from say one hour to 4 hours after the ending of the event, I will bravely put myself on the line to salvage a direct link from the ruins of a spoiler-infested Apple website. I can't promise it though, since I do have a life (no offense) and am planning on going to a pub with friends this evening (the keynote is from 7 pm to 9pm Belgian time)

The event has started! Switch off your interwebz! :p - and please, please, please, keep this thread spoiler free! And please, please, please, someone, post the link when it's up! Thanks! And guys, when we're all done, like I organised last year, put the following in your sig, if you wish:

:apple: Let's Rock '08 Spoiler Free Veteran :apple:

EDIT: Also, should no one provide a link, this should be the page where it'll be when it's up:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/specialevent0908/

But beware, there will be spoilers on the page, so just avoid reading the text. Just hit the button. But hopefully, in about 3 hours, we'll get a direct RTSP// link! :)

Heh,

A true test is finding the keynotes made consistently since 2004 with no outside help from sites like this ;). Though I did cheat with the last WWDC and just linked to Macrumors, though found the link by myself (without spoilers) on the quicktime site before it was posted here. With that said, I am again cheating this year by watching macrumors because i have lots going on at work today and can't keep by my firefox browser with reload every refreshing my page in 15 second intervals.

BTW I wouldn't be surprised if they use one of the following URLs (they have done similar in the past).

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/letsrock0908/
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/letsrock08/
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/qtv/letsrock/

Normally, the page will load with placeholder prior to the event starting, and not the default "looking for something" splash page used for bad links. However, They could have changed tactics since event pages are now often shared on places like Macrumors and Digg.com now.

Cheers!
