Thats a what I feared. I am almost better off going with a dock and the Lower end screen that this comes from with a good VESA mount.

What I want is the 5k but it is so riddled with issues it is not even funny

Got 2 5K as well, couldn't be happier. What issues are you referring to? The one with Wi-Fi?

The 5k has disconnects /flickering / lockups on disconnect / wifi issue bad color /

the list of things wrong with that display are insanely high for such a Low volume item and such a high price

I saw some one complain about having a yellow display and some color shift. Bad panel but come one with so few of these in the wild every error is pumped up. I mean I can always say oh well the issue with X iPhones does not represent the whole cause the quantity of phones sold is so high.

These issue have me in a holding pattern. I returned a 15 MacBook Pro to shift the money into a 5k display just to get side lined with all these errors.

I am left going what display do I get. I was super happy with my 24 cinema for almost a decade. I am looking to make that kinda investment of money and to keep it that long.

So the price of the 5k was not off putting but all the errors are.

The other option I have looked at is another LG monitor the 27 4k with usb C

Please, can you give me a synthetic comparison between the two(5k and LG 27 4k ud)? Is the better screen enough value against ports and price? Thanks mate

Alright, here it is :
The 5K is the best display I've ever seen, period. If you have the money, buy it.
For the same price you can have 2 UHD from LG though, so it's up to you. If it were me, for just one monitor, I'll go with the 5K ultrafine all day.

I don't mind the ports at all, I don't use those on the 4K because it's only USB 2. On the 5K you can have an ethernet adapter, an external SSD and you'll enjoy max speeds.
