I went and checked out the G2 today at TMobile. I was very, very impressed with it. I would be satisfied getting this phone if the N5 battery life turns out to be not very good. However....TMobile told me that it only comes in 16GB which just might be a deal breaker for me so i went on their site because i thought maybe these people just dont know what they are talking about( i was sure i thought i read it comes in a 32GB version) and that is true in some cases and on their site it doesnt even mention the memory that comes with it anywhere on the site. Very strange.

Im not sure what to think of that. Either it is only 16GB and they dont want to say so or a 32GB is coming and they just dont want say they have only a 16......hec i dont know. I think it is pretty ridiculous that these phone companies continue to screw up a good thing with a simple thing like memory sizes.

There are 4 graphs and there is no 4G graph. Thats 3G/2G which is meaningless to me because I am either on wifi or LTE all the time. I am betting they cherry picked that 3G/2G to make the G2 look better on purpose. I mean, who still uses 2G or even 3G in 2013? Maybe some countries overseas? Doesnt effect me, I have been on 3G in years. I am pretty sure a 4G/LTE test would reveal the 5s is MUCH closer to the G2 since LTE is so such a battery drain on every Android phone.

Hmm, why wouldn't they put up a 4g graph? Seems kind of stupid, but we still don't know the 4g numbers and don't know if they are even or not. Still, for me it doesn't make sense because wifi browsing being the same I'd rather choose the larger screen and TRIPLE the talk time. My wife still has an ip5 and whenever I look at that screen it amazes me how freakin tiny it looks. I am assuming you have eagle vision, because internet browsing on that screen for 5 minutes makes my eyeballs fall out, never mind for 8 hours. But I wouldn't browse for 8 hours o either screen, that's nuts, that's what I have a tablet for.

I'm not saying anything about how you use your phone, if browsing on wifi for 8 hours on a 4" screen and having much less talk time are the ways you use your phone, then yeah the iphone is a better phone for you. But for me I'd rather have triple the talk time, a larger screen, and a slight advantage in wifi/3g browsing. For me I'm just not seeing ANY benefit, at least from those graphs.

I don't do much web browsing on my 5s, that's what I have a tablet for :) I work from home where I have my iPad mini, MacBook or iMac if I wanna web browse. When I'm away from my house, most I do is Facebook, Instagram and forums like this, all of which have mobile apps that look great and perform very well on my iPhone, so it's never an issue.

Oh, so I'm confused. Why do you care about wifi browsing numbers? Seems like you are putting more importance on wifi browsing than something like talk time.

Just found out that my carrier just got the G2 in exclusivity!

I might get it. Would only cost me 130$!

It would be a good upgrade to my SGS3 I think.

Would you guys get this or the Note 3, Sony Z1, iPhone 5S (just to have something different although I don't like iOS too much) or Nexus 5? Problem with Nexus 5 is that I don't my carrier will get it (or any other carrier).

My plan was to upgrade next year, but maybe next year's phones won't be that much of an upgrade to this year's also.

Pretty big difference in most of those phones you mentioned. If the N5 has a 3000mah battery I'd get that, I am going to sell my G2 for the N5 if it has the bigger battery. Otherwise I'll probably keep the G2 until the 5" iphone comes out.

Whats the odds of that hapening?

If it does, they will sell the crap out of them. A 5" iPhone would be very cool though it will still be limited,.... but it would be much better than the tiny screen it has now.

No idea. It was a rumor for a bit, and now we haven't heard any more rumors, plus no FCC filings at 3000mah. Hopefully we find out soon.

so I'm slowly turning back on things that I turned off to see which has the most affect on battery life. I turned google now back on just to see how it affects battery. Yesterday it didn't seem to affect it to much but we'll see how it does today.

You still have it? I returned mine and went back to my 5s days ago. Why would you want a phone you have to turn off main features, keep the screen dark and dim, baby and constantly monitor just to keep a full days battery?

You keep saying this, but it's just not true. You must have had a bad phone, or a bad app eating up all your battery. Even the anandtech review you keep posting remarked how incredible the battery life was. You do NOT have to turn off main features. You do NOT have to keep the screen dark and dim (I keep mine on 80-90% all day long). Yo do NOT have to constantly monitor just to keep a full days battery.

You seem to have a vendetta against this phone for some odd reason. I don't think it's a perfect phone at all, and I have my list of reasons I don't think it's a perfect phone. I may also sell it and get the Nexus 5, but I haven't decided and am waiting to see the specs on that first.

Look at the first graph, it's for 3G/2G. Who cares about that? I haven't used 3G in ages. Why didn't they test in on LTE? Probably because the iPhone will keep right up with it. Look at the graph for wifi and the iPhone 5 is right there with the G2 in time. Plastic, look at my own comparisons earlier in this thread where my 5s got longer battery life than my G2 over wifi and LTE. Thanks though

A nice quote from that review:

The LG G2 battery life is shockingly good through our tests, and in subjective use.

You can't get any freakin better than 23.5 hours of talk time !!!

Nah, you are grasping at straws. If the iphone keeps up with it in LTE, WHO CARES? I would rather have the larger screen and 23.5 hours of talk time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not telling YOU what to do, I am just confused why you are on here talking bad about the G2 so vehemently without even anything to back you up.

Read some of Bova's posts in this thread. I guess he also got a bad G2 as well? Hmmm

And Anandtech and myself got the only 2 G2's which were not defective? Lol.

BTW I've already posted about the Carrier IQ bug which eats up battery, something about it enabling location services/GPS constantly. There is a way to disable CIQ which is extremely easy. It's a fairly rare bug, but it's discussed over at XDA forums.

Without anything to back me up? I suggest you look at my screenshots from my G2 and 5s battery usage again. Plenty of proof.

One users usage graphs? Not plenty of proof, I'd say it's just... well it's just one users usage graphs. If I posted my graphs saying I got incredible battery life then that would be one user refuting another one user, done.

Anecdotally I thought the iphone 5 battery was TERRIBLE. With that phone I did have to keep the screen at 50% or less, I'd have to constantly carry a charging cable, and if I had a lot of talk time I'd be out of battery by mid afternoon easily. Once again, a single users experience.

Seriously dude, what's up with all the G2 bashing? It's not a perfect phone, and it seems you weren't happy with it, but your vehemence against an inanimate object is kind of weird. Why u mad?

Here is my usage...and proof. The LG G2 battery life was the best! All the features turned on......through normal usage (for me anyway). My son has the iPhone 5s and his phone dies at about 18 hours of normal use (for him anyway). The G2 battery last longer than my S4 as well.

I got to play with the g2 yesterday in store alongside the Note 3 and the Xperia Z1. I must say the G2 impressed me a lot more than the other two. Very zippy, great screen, the knock knock feature (which I loved in my old GNex), the placement of the back buttons.
But damn that stylus in the GN3... Makes me keep stealing glances at it.

I posted side by side comparisons of my G2 and 5s showing same time off the charger. Well actually, my 5s had been off the charger 5 hours longer and still performed better than the G2. Looking at your shots, you are showing 11% usage over the past 3 hours, you are hardly using it. Of course it's going to last. Get that usage up to at least 20% and let's see how the battery does.

How about he talks on his G2 for 23.5 hours?!?! Seriously, talking on your phone... I know, go figure who talks on their phone? But I hear talking on your phone is all the rage these days, all the kids are doing it, and I hear even "serious" businessmen are considering doing it.

Don't believe me? How about 23.5 hours of talk time for the G2, and a paltry 8.7 hours for the iphone 5?
