you need to re-read the article. This is Apple display, not LG. LG will just provide panels and manufacture it but its Apple

Why are people excited about this? Another round of Ultrafines (that also sound like 2 years away) …

We need Apple to take displays seriously and not rely on third parties to fill the obvious holes they're leaving in their lineup. And we need them to have started 2 years ago so they're ready already. Come on.

Apple, Give me a $3,000 'baby' XDR. I don't need television or broadcast reference specifications. I want a display with a similar mini-LED density of the new MacBook Pro that sits beside it, 27-32" size, stand included with HDR and 5K support. That's it.
Agreed. Something priced similar to the old 30" ACD would be welcome.

Give us this design with a bigger resolution and smaller bezels without it costing a organ...

I'm still enjoying mine, but the pixel density gets noticeable after switching from a 16" MacBook Pro.

I'd love a HiDPI ~200ppi monitor with DCI-P3 color with a built in KVM so I can swap between my work and personal computer. The Dell U2722DE is the closest I've seen to what I want just I want ~2880p instead of 1440p.

Even if these displays don't fit the bill I hope it means other manufacturers can get similar panels from LG.

If LG can get the design right this time they could be on to a winner.

I wish they were all Apple-branded though.

These will be Apple-branded displays using LG panels and electronics - just like the current 24" and 27" iMacs.

Another plus is these Apple displays will go through the additional calibration that LG Ultrafines apparently do not, so we will see much more uniformity with the iMac (24") and iMac Pro (27") than we do not see with the Ultrafines.

I was looking into building a PC and selling my iMac to offset, plus put toward M1 Mac Mini. The main thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is displays. It would be great to have a newer cinema display I can swap between machines, return the PC I ended up buying.

if iMac pro will be similar to the new iMac 24 then this will be handy as a stand-alone display.
Combining this with a user-upgradeable mac mini pro then we have a winner!

As someone who was looking for a secondary display recently (to accompany my 2020 5k iMac) I ended up getting an used LG 22" 4k ultra fine. I wanted something smaller as I had a 27" apple display before that just took up too much space. Also, I'm ruined to only want high-dpi (retina) displays, so anything that comes from Apple would be welcomed. I would definitely buy a reasonably-priced 32" display, but the XDR just is too much for things I don't need. If the price could come down on a 32" so that it was $1500-2000 I could justify the purchase and would get a Mac mini when new ones become available... one can hope.

This is what makes a difference. Apple branded with AppleCare and Apple customer service and support. I avoid anything LG branded after having to deal with their customer support on their original 5K 27" Ultrafine and other consumer products.

This is impeccable. I can buy MacBook Pro 16.2inch then and get a new Apple Display. Desktop computers are a risky investment for someone that moves a lot.

God, I hope this is true. I need to update my ACDs big time. Love the XDR but can't justify the cost. Give me options at cheaper price points/Nanotech and stand @$2.5k and I'll buy two.
