I am hoping Apple will release iPads this spring. I want to purchase either the iPad Air or iPad Pro 11. I tried the mini and regular iPad and did not like them.

Good for visuals. Bad for eyes.
Good for visuals? Not exactly sure what that means. Yes, there’s definitely differences between OLED an LCD, but I don’t think consumers generally care about the visuals, nor do they understand either. If you look at Apples marketing traditionally, they don’t tout about OLED panels for an extended amount of time, they focus on other specific hardware features, like the Apple Pencil support, Pro-motion, ect.

However, the ‘bad for eyes’ argument when it comes to OLED is very subjective. It’s more of a case by case situation, versus everybody’s affected by it.

An iPad Air with a Promotion 120Hz OLED display would be the perfect iPad.

I hope the next generation of MacBooks also goes OLED, I really like the Mini-LED LCD on my 14" MacBook Pro but it's still inferior to my iPhone 13 Pro's display, both get brighter than I need them to be.

I was ready to pull the trigger on a C1 last year but ended up waiting. The Samsung QDOLED seem more promising now. Since they are making TV and monitors with it they seem confident in the long term reliability of it.

Yeah, Samsung just killed OLED with their new QDOLED technology. I guess Apple saw an opportunity to get a huge discount on the outdated OLED from LG. But ofcourse, Apple will sell it for $$$$.

Another price hike for an improvement I probably won't be able to appreciate in real life, but one which the internet reviewers will rave about because if you put the old and new devices right next to the other and show just the right image there's a tiny difference? Sign me up baby.

The fact that after all this time, we’re still rumoring about this and not using it is truly baffling. This ain’t exactly new tech…

Seems like it's really lagging behind the timeframe that the iPhone got for the OLED display. Wonder why it's taking Apple so long to tackle something like this...for goodness sake, you can get it up to 75" as a display now...should be able to easily make OLED displays for the iPad. No?
It'll be ten years after Samsung put OLED into their tabs, which btw look fantastic. The screens. Not the plastic Galaxy Tabs themselves...

Their upcoming one is huge:

I'm very satisfied with the quality of my iPad Mini 4.... Simply had the battery replaced and its as good as new. Perfect for media consumption in bed :)

How likely will larger than 12.9" iPad Pro be available this year or in 2023?

Excellent. Hope to skip over the trash Mini LED phase Apple has going. Gimme an OLED iPad. wouldn’t mind an oled Mac either.

You obviously have never seen an OLED screen.

Depends on what content you watch i suppose, but for things like a fureplace in an otherwise dark scene( unkess ivercompresion negates it that is, may depend on media source) you will deffenetly notice only oled can produce true blacks. So contrast ratios will in theory be improved. On another note when most of the screen is dark the screen wil probably conume less power then lcd screens so you might see slightly increced batery life assuming all other components have thes sam power usage

Sure, why not if you’re a masochist, but current miniLED iPad Pro and MacBook Pros are amazing (from actual experience). Good for your eyes, great for HDR when you need it.
OLED jelly scrolling
OLED is good on iPhone because you only hold it vertically and it’s a small size. Same for TVs - you can’t experience it there, it refreshes from top to bottom. Tablets though, even flagship 120Hz OLED Samsung tablet suffers from jelly scrolling ?. Unless they improve tech, that’s a no for me. I couldn’t stand it on Galaxy Tab S5. And don’t forget the risk of burn-in of static macOS elements.

My understanding is mini LED is the superior product. Why switch to OLED?

My understanding is that mini LED isn’t superior, and every time I’ve seen one I end up thinking the same. OLED has the best contrast ratio without local dimming required so no shadows/glows/halos. It also has amazing colour accuracy and excellent response times. People will now declare OLED inferior due to the perceived ‘burn in’ risk where images are stuck on the screen, but that’s usually reserved for cheaper less well designed panels. Apple phones have not suffered this generally. I’ve used an OLED laptop for years and not seen any evidence of burn in either

I bought an LG 55 inch OLED. I don't recall the model number, but it was over $2K back on 2017, so I think it was a premium model. Serious burn in and the TV is ruined. The only other OLED device I have is an iPhone and no issues with that. Will never buy another OLED TV again--never.
