Install the LG Screen Manager app to update.

Here is what I am showing as the latest.

Screen Manager hasn't always been reliable in providing the latest version though.

For instance I'm seeing up to date with 3.04,1.13,5237,3.04,0.1e there may be region specific stuff going on to explain the difference I guess, but there have been occasions where manually downloading the latest as the only way to update, still installs from Screen Manager.

My 27MD5KL-B has started showing a grey screen randomly when the temperature in the room gets a little warmer. Tried different cables and computers, issue is consistent. Having to RMA.
Anyone encounter a similar issue?
Monitor is under 2 years old!

whats the farthest distance you can sit from this monitor and still see things comfortably? I ask because I am in a music studio setup where my "mixing position" is about 4 feet away from the screen...will this monitor be large enough and the right resolution for this type of distance? Or am I better off with a larger screen/smart TV type setup?

I've been using my 27MD5KL-B for about 8 months now. Bought from Apple in February. It's been great, working well with my 2018 Intel based mac mini.

But recently, it started flashing on and off, about 2 times per second, like a strobe light. This makes it completely unusable. Doesn't seem like the intermittent flickering reported with the older models. It flashes/strobes when plugged into a different computer (macbook pro), and even when booting up and showing the apple logo.

If it has been off for a little bit, i.e. when the computer is idle and turns off the screen, it will then work ok when the screen comes back on, at least for a few hours.

Any one else run into this kind of issue?

update:
RMA'ing the monitor.
For future reference, here's a video showing the problem:

So I bought one today to use with my new MBP next week. I tried it with my M1 MBP and it worked perfectly for an hour or so. Hopefully all is good now. I wonder if it was an LG or an Apple issue…

I know these are discontinued, but wondered if anyone is still selling in the UK? I have only found one supplier and price was too high. Even eBay doesn't have any.

UK: https://www.apple.com/uk/search/display = LG 5K not there anymore.
US: https://www.apple.com/us/search/display = LG 5K (and 4K) are there.
thanks, looks like USA won't ship to UK
Unlikely. Ebay et al. are your best bet, when they appear.
Doubtful. Warranties that come with devices like these are connected with country of sale + they are large boxes not easily affordably shippable internationally like this & large screens can easily get damaged in transit. Thus US sellers exporting is unlikely.

They were unavailable for a while at Apple Store in Aus. Then they reappeared. Sold out again after new MBPs announced last week. Keep checking they may come back in stock.

The quality control and support on these from LG is frankly taking the piss. I spent about 2 months going back and forth trying to solve image retention issues with them and they couldn't care less. Wouldn't admit there was any issue and offered to replace the panels at half of full retail price for what is a 5 year old monitor.

Would never give them my money again.

and this was while UNDER warranty?

No of course not. Warranty is one year. I don't expect a £700 monitor to have issues after a few years. If something dies due to bad luck I can handle that. If they have made a bad monitor that suffers from know issues then I expect them to fix it outside of warranty.

I have had my 2 since launch; one has bad retention, one doesn't; I still think they are the best affordable monitors that you can buy for a Mac.

They're actually £1179 (or £884 if bought in the first year of release ;-), but yeah.

compared to $6k US (with stand hah) yeah. I feel like with the lg at $1299 retail the apple version will be at least $1499 if it ever comes out, so dont expect cheap
