Even so one method alone isn't a good idea. Samsung already have a very secure unlocking method with iris scanning.

Defeated by a photo and any contact lens, not secure at all. Much easier to do than hack Touch ID like this group did previously

Apple's facial recognition will be hacked in time too just like Touch ID.

Scan the users face in 3d and then 3d print it, not as easy as a photo and a contact lens.

Sure... but TouchID is still good enough to keep out 99.99999% of thieves 🙂
The CCC made a big splash 4 years ago when they "hacked" TouchID. But the thing to remember is they did it in a controlled environment.
They purposely left a nice clean fingerprint on a bottle so they could get a good image of it. And they had no time-limits either.
To "hack" TouchID in the real world... it's much more difficult to achieve.
First you have to get the phone from the owner... AND you have to find a good fingerprint.
And even if you get the phone and a good fingerprint... all of this must be completed before the iPhone asks for the passcode (or before the owner realizes their phone is missing and disables it remotely)
There's a difference between something that is possible... and the chance that it will actually happen.
So yes... someone might be able to "hack" Apple's FaceID.
But the chances of someone stealing my phone AND getting a 3D scan of my face... well... that's highly unlikely. 😛

They copied the curved glass into the body and stainless steel frame thats going into the 8 basically spot on. I can't imagine the iPhone will be much different on the outside than this.

Duh duh ... they copied Apple ... duh duh... Sorry, I didn't hear much after that. Going by the title though the phones look pretty different. But there is only so much you can do with thin bezels and a rectangular shaped phone. Plus didn't the V30 just get announced, but Apple hasn't announced the ip8?
Just FYI, Samsung devices still have Touch ID while the next iPhone won't. It's incredible how Apple has managed to convince some of you that choice is a bad thing.
Ssshhhh don't give the secret away....
Of course we have the other alternative which is Samsung design build and out in sale a phone from scratch in under 2 months to copy Apple after they launch a new iPhone...
I actually had someone in here claim that to me.... 🙄

I'm guessing Apple feels that their new authentication methods are better than TouchID. We'll have to see.
We've always had choice though. Some people didn't use TouchID even if they had it. They used the PIN code for whatever reasons.
Now they'll be able to use FaceID or a PIN code.
It does seem weird that Apple is removing a feature like TouchID that was so highly regarded. But again... we'll have to see how it all works out.
This is the same company who removed the headphone jack... so.... 😛
Whoa, whoa, whoa....don't get too logical and common sensical here. These forums can't handle that.
Seriously people, there is a certain shape and design to products that are more conducive to their shape when considering their function. You don't accuse DeWalt of copying Black & Decker for the shape of a drill bit or circular saw. That is just the most logical shape for the function. earbuds are shaped a certain way, because they fit your ears. A phone takes on a rounded candy bar shape that is best shape to be interacted with your hand and your face. The home pod, AKA a smart speaker, is rounded and stout because that is the best shape for a non-intrusive well sounding responsive device. The Echo and Google home are similarly shaped.
Do I have to go on? The Apple watch didn't design the rectangular shape first, let alone the smartwatch. We are now at a time where people prefer their smartphone maker , their car manufacturer, their clothing brand, Etc. We need to move on beyond the idea that one company has thought of everything and everyone else is copy in them.
Op....give up or admit youe trolling. There isn't an in-between here. I'd anything....the iPhone 8 is copying the essential phone.
As a side note I don't understand the fanaticism on this website. All you have to do is read the replies to news articles on this website, concerning other manufacturers. It's borderline fanatic and delusional. If people put this much sincere care and effort into other things in this world, I imagine it would be a better place to live...and use said smartphone.

That's way harder than they made it look. Even fooling the facial recognition is way harder than it looks. Both require countless tries and unlimited access to a person to make corrections and take all the perfect shots they need.
Even Touch ID was hacked.
Finger sensor and Iris scanner is more than good enough security for the average person.
Anyone that concerned with security should use nothing but a 12 character or longer password with lower, capital, numbers, and symbols included.
No, Apple is afraid of messing up the aesthetics of the iPhone. They tried to put Touch ID within the display, but couldn't get it right in time. Touch ID would either have to be built within the display or Apple logo, otherwise people will highly criticize any other placement. Apple would just rather axe Touch ID altogether. At least Samsung was willing to face criticism with their finger sensor placement, rather than just axe it.
Also, it's not a sure thing that Touch ID is gone for good. The iPhone 8S might end up with an in display Touch ID.

Didn’t think I’d move from Samsung if staying with Android but the V30 reviews look great. Note 8 may just be too large. Though I prefer zoom with the Note over wide angle with V30 if we are splitting hairs.
S8 obviously if looking smaller too, but it doesn’t wow me, not enough of a difference (size, water resistance is about all) to switch from Note 5 (though maybe none of these are, as my Note 5 is still great).
Essential Phone is up there too given it’s build and uniqueness, but the camera and it being a startup company as far as support etc have me leery.
And of course toss in the IPx if I decide to switch sides for a smaller , high end phone. Another week or two and all should be clearer.
