you will still see a "gap".. there shouldnt be aluminum on aluminum contact. There is that little rubber seal all the way around that should hit the lower half before the aluminum does..

there is no contact between the rubber seal and the base aluminum at the back of laptop (ie. hinge)

Yeah there is... the rubber band goes all the way around the screen... look carefully at the bottom of the screen and you'll see it there as well..

Exactly. So even on a perfect machine you will visually still see a "gap" even tho it really is tight.
