I never blew the company, smartass. I simply passed on the the facts deriving from either beta testers or credible sources to help calm all the accusations before the case even released. Yeah, they took a while but it was no reason to knock the case. Now that it has actually released and I had hands on, no it did not live up to the hype but they are still a great company, especially considering how new they are. They fixed my problem no questions asked and they have already released a fix for the speakerphone issue. I probably would have kept it if I heard about that before I put it on eBay and the excitement for profit set in. I'll likely buy one in the future when all the kinks are worked out. If I couldn't make a profit off of it I would have kept it for sure.

I liked the case, but I'm happier with a $60 profit on a used case. They have great customer service and I can't knock them. The woman I sold the case to loves it. Some love it, some hate it. That's how the world works.

Take your BS somewhere else kid. I guess it's expected from someone with Gucci as their username.

lol okay SONIC, take it easy

Well, I was one of the last pre-order peeps, and I got the case about 3 days ago. I was going to cancel it because of the initial reviews, but I wanted to see if they could work out the bugs. It appears the latest cases have the updated fixes (mainly the echo fix). They did mention that they put 2 strips of tape on the sides of the screen to eliminate the rainbow fix. But... it might have fixed the bubble screen issue... because the screen on the case... sits pretty close to the iPhone 4 screen... but far enough to not give you the rainbow effect. Since I was one of the last to pre-order... the packaging doesn't come with the waterproof headphone adapter. They shipped it to me in a separate package outside the box.

After the water test, I put on the case... and used it for 3 days. The case isn't as bad as some of the stuff I've been reading. My wife and others say I sound okay when I talk... and so far... not echo when using the speakerphone. That could be because the latest case comes with the echo fix. Touch screen sensitivity is just as good as my otterbox. I do have to press the volume buttons a little harder, but it's not like you need superman strength to press it. It's still functional to me. The vibrate switch works like the instructions says it would (opposite directions). If you use toggle the switch in the normal direction... it won't work the same. Last, the speakers sound fine when playing music. My case doesn't distort or muffle the sound like some people say. It sounds as good when I listen on my Otterbox. It might because of the latest updates... but it isn't as bad as what I read in the past.

Now the thing I agree with reviews I've read... the case does look cheap for the price. It doesn't look bad, but IMO... it's built more functionality than for looks. However, comparing it to my Otterbox case... and how beat up it looks... this LifeProof case is an improvement... but the cheap looking material looks like it will look beat up after a few drops.

Glad to hear the new fronts seem to fix the screen bubble and speakerphone issue. I ordered the fix but they screwed it up and I had to reorder. On mine, a black case, not only do I have the echo, but callers tell me the mic volume is low and distorted even when not using the speakerphone. I feel silly, and probably look really strange, blowing into the mic port every time before I make or answer a call, but in any case, it is still a problem. Customer service says the new front fixes all the issues. We'll see about that...if they ever ship them as promised. Funny thing is, my wife, who has the white case, has no complaints and I can hear her just fine, but she does have the screen bubble and never uses the speakerphone, so maybe it has that problem too. Haven't tested hers for that yet.

Bottom line, early adopter or not, I expect hardware of any type to be 100% functional when it leaves the factory without design defects. A QC problem on the assembly line I understand, but design faults like this are unacceptable. That is what prototype testing is for. This product is not a computer, software, or something really complex like a modern airplane. It is basically a box. How hard can it be to do it right?

My case is perfect.

I Just discovered this forum and have been reading some of the past posts and I really am surprised by some of them. I have 4 LP cases in my family and I have not have any of the issues that some are writing about. I love these cases. My screen is crystal clear and doesn't bulge or pillow as some have said. No sound issues either. I was an otterbox user before discovering this case and won't go back. Not saying otterbox is bad but my phone used to get really dirty under the case. Not a problem with LP.

I have been swimming. To the beach. Caught in the rain and even dropped the phone several times and the phone survived. When the phone gets dusty :) I just wash it off.

I am looking forward to other products from this company.

I took my kids to our private club house pool this morning. It was great swimming with them with my iPhone. The videos I took of them look and sound pretty good. Since our clubhouse has wifi access, I did some FaceTime with my wife in the water. It stayed connected if I didn't go to deep... or don't stay under to long. My wife enjoyed watching the kids swimming while at home. The new updates seem to be working. We didn't encounter any echo issue during the FaceTime call, and I don't have pillowing or rainbow effect. Haven't lost any touchscreen sensitivity either.

Well worth the 70 dollars. Completely waterproof and shockproof
I take my phone to many more places
Now. Beach pool ect.

Just the fact that if the phone gets dirty or muddy all you have to do is wash it in the sink. That was worth the price to me.

Honestly, $70 is to much for any case. But at least pre-order people got the $20 swimming headphone adapter for free. But if I added up all the cases I bought for my iPhone 4 before this case?

Anyhow... now that I've been using it for week, the new updates on the front case has fixed all the initial issues I've read. I've been using the speakerphone everyday I come home from work since I got it, and people on the other end say I sound clear, and no echo issues. The 2 strips of tape on the sides of the inner part of the screen does take care of the rainbow effect... and it seems like it took care of the pillow effect also. Or maybe it settled fast for me since I'm always wiping my screen with a microfiber because the screen protector is to glossy. Since my kids I go to our clubhouse pool a lot, I've been really enjoying this case. Really nice to swim with my phone, and the videos I take of my kids are going to be very memorable.

I've heard good stuff about the fixes. This is stuff that should be been figured out before the initial release though. If that was the case (no pun intended) I'd probably still have mine.

I'm the type that usually buys the latest and greatest, and become their beta testers. If I had the same issues as you early on, I would have sold mine too... or just returned it for a refund just to get it out of my hands. You benefited by selling it, so you did the right thing.

Replacement Front Cover NOT a Fix

Received and tried two different replacement front covers that are supposed to fix the pillow and echo issues. The pillow problem is indeed solved. However, I still have an echo when using the speakerphone, one front being stronger than the other. The one with the weakest echo effect however, also reduces volume on the other end when using the regular mic. Everyone I have spoken with when using this case has commented on one problem or another with the sound. I've tried every posted solution and reinstalled numerous times, cleaned the ports, etc. Without a case, or with the Defender, the phone works perfectly, so it is not my phone. I'm going back to the Otterbox myself. I use the speakerphone function often. Between the echo on that and the reduced volume on the regular mic this case is a no go for me.

Yah... there are people that have issues and some who don't. I'm not sure if it's how I set my phone up on volume... or what. I use my speakerphone everyday since I got it... and no complaints on the other end, and no echo. Since there are no complaints, I'll keep using it till I'm bored with it... or when I upgrade my iPhone 4. The case doesn't seem to be consistent for everyone. I read that there is an issue with the proximity sensor, but mine works perfectly. If I did have the echo issue... or if I had functional issues like the proximity sensor... or even the pillow effect, I would return in a heart beat.

Took three days to get my Lifeproof case...not too shabby. So far, I like it just fine...no issues whatsoever with screen, sound, sensor, etc. Worth the money AFAIC...reminds me of the tactical tupperware my Glock came in. Mine contained the headphone adapter as well.

Muffled convo

Just got my case in the mail yesterday. I read the instructions, performed the water test, installed the phone and all was well. Muffled sounds and clicks but whatever, not a huge deal. Well today I start sending and receiving phone calls and almost everyone I talked with complained about how I sounded muffled when I spoke. This could prove to be a problem or at least a drawback of a water tight case. Otherwise I'm pleased with the slim design as opposed to the bulk of the Otter. But it looks like I might end up using two cases - one for the job site, beach, workout, rec. type activities and one for everything else. The problem there is that Lifeproof is saying it has a lifespan of only 50 open/closes. Lame. Again, apparently a drawback to a water tight case. Definitely an interesting design problem for a product designer. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a $70 paid-for case until they resolve this problem.

I had that problem with my case. It was one of the first pre-orders. Called lifeproof up and they sent me a new front assembly. The replacement has been great. No more muffled complaints. Give them a call.

The truth many are clear the images also subdivision. Really touched. If there really is so good, I would recommend to my friends. Need it with my life.

Update

Ok so I've had the case for about a month now so i figured I'd write up a follow up review. I still haven't had any issues with the speakerphone/echo problem. I took it off after about 2 and a half weeks of using it to have a comparison. I put my otterbox defender back on and imo the lifeproof case is better for me. It doesnt get stuck in my pockets which is great and i dont have to worry about getting it wet with the lifeproof case on. I put the lifeproof back on after about 2 days with the Otterbox. One thing i noticed after reinstalling it was that the sound is slightly muffled. The ringtones are not quite as loud with the lifeproof on but its still very hearable (if that's a word). Overall I think I'm going to stick with the lifeproof case (at least until i get bored with it) its very sleek and slides in and out of my pocket easily and is still waterproof.

From just the glimpse of the case on their website, it looks like it will protect the case with the added bulk all around. The colorful 4 boxes on the left corner on their website did catch my attention: about the 4 proofs (water, dirt, snow, & shock).
