I've been looking for a reliable one and wondering if anyone has found something? (Sorry tried search since I am pretty sure there's already a topic but search didn't work well).

The ones on eBay and Amazon have pretty poor reviews. I wish Apple would make one.

Most of those, if they even work, will only provide media out for audio--they won't support calls or volume or other controls that exist on headphones. If that's all you need, then most of them should be OK (if they work given that they are fairly cheaply made and thus the quality is inconsistent).

The only one so far that will support call audio and headphone controls is the Belkin adapter that splits the lightning port into two essentially (and you can charge using one and plug in lighting headphones into the other or the lightning to 3.5 mm adapter for 3.5 mm headphones).

A good amount of discussion about this kind of thing is over at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/quality-3-5mm-audio-charging-splitter-where-to-buy.2024192/

What about a lightning to lightning short cable for the purpose of a quick charge of your airpods or beats x while on the go from the phone's battery (yes I realize the humor in plugging wireless headphones into the phone with a cord) I dunno if it'd technically even work with a lightning to lightning. Don't know if the phone would output power to charge the airpods.

So far I've charged my AirPod case once a week and I use the AirPods for a more than a few hours a day. You shouldn't need to charge the AirPod case daily.
