Soon after?? Can that be right? So it's complimentary only if you bought the old version after the new one came out?

It says announced not released. Not sure what date they will honor though. I'll definitely be calling to see if I can get an upgrade (but I doubt it).

Last week I had purchased LR3 at the discount price hoping to see a decent upgrade price that would of course be less than a new price. Well, looks like it isn't any less :(

LR3 $70, LR4 upgrade $80 = $150. The same price as LR4. dang it.

LOL...I did the exact same thing...d'Ho!!!

;)

Installing and upgrading Adobe Lightroom 4.

Many people have been experiencing problems with installing and upgrading Adobe Lightroom to its newest release: Lightroom 4.

It is very straightforward to upgrade from any previous version of Lightroom, but there are a few steps that are very important.

Here is a 60 second video tutorial on how to properly installing Adobe Lightroom 4.

Hope this clears up some of the confusion.

Heads up...

There's a major bug in the newly released version -- LR4 is not enabling the use of external editors (e.g., NIK, Topaz, Elements, etc). Adobe has acknowledged the issue and is working on it. These plugins worked in the Beta, but not the final "release" version.

Otherwise, the upgrade was no problem and the improvements are rather nice.

Here the answer I got from B&H about a free upgrade from my recently purchased LR3:

Please go to https://www.adobe.com/go/pa and login with your Adobe used ID to get all the information on how to upgrade.

And here is the answer I received from Adobe:

I'm happy to inform you that we have placed an order for Adobe Lightroom 4 version which is an upgrade from Adobe Lightroom 3 as this was under the Grace period to provide you a Free Complimentary Software for Adobe Lightroom 4 under the MLP platform. You will receive the software within the next 7 - 10 business days.

:)

Thanks people! I finished filing my paperwork and am waiting for a response from Adobe. I could not install the latest update for Lighroom 3 anyways. It is kinda strange.

EDIT: Adobe is sending Ligthroom 4 to me free of charge! They are tops for sure!

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Adobe.

We have placed and approved your product order. The order is currently
processing and the download will be available in your Adobe account in
24-48 hours.

Looks like I'll be downloading LR4. Too bad I won't get any thing on disk.

New world order, my CS5 came as download only. As long as you have the serial number, you'll be able to download LR4 anytime

To be honest I'm still waiting after receiving two emails: one said my claim was approved and the other stated a disk copy of LR4 was shipping within 5-7 business days. It has been 5 -7 business days, so the downloadable version is received faster than the disk. I'm not complaining because Adobe took care of me, but it's a rare case when the disk version is provided more conveniently than the digital version. At least that's the trend lately. Post when you receive your code, if you haven't already, and let us know how it worked out for you. :)

24 hours later and I got my serial number :D Now all I have to do is get a mac that can run it

For what it's worth, I received LR4 today! The disk version.....yahoooooo! I will echo what others have said about Adobe offering free upgrades if one purchases the older edition within 30 days or so: Adobe delivers big time and they even sent it cofer from the mother ship! Super rad! I had no idea it was shipped, they surprised me! Anyways, I'm looking forward to upgrading my tired version of LR3! ;)
