I was just thinking the same thing! Oh there will be plenty of idiots today wasting there time making negative comments. Really? Why?
ouch, disappointing news. I was gonna get the white one and give my mother my black one. Oh well, I will just wait longer and still have my black ip4 to play with while I wait

And this is why the rumor going around was saying that the stores would be getting huge amounts of stock for the weekend. They knew the white would not be available and tons of people would be heading out to buy a black4.

Which is exactly why every time I see the "OFFICIAL returned my black to wait for white" thread I have a good laugh.
F&%@ this... I'm getting the black and if the white ever gets released I'll consider it again. I'm so pissed! I've had three chances to buy the black including launch day and I forwent that chance thinking the white would come out this month.

I'm so pissed I can barely type. I was awake at 1am on June 24th. I could've had a launch-day iPhone 4, but NOOO, I waited for white. I sold my old iPhone a day before to pay for it even. I figured, the delay can't be that long, I can go without a phone.
So then Apple says mid-July. Okay, I'll wait.
SO then Apple says end of July. Only a couple more weeks, sure.
Now Apple says later this year? What does that even mean? September? November? December?
How do we know that, sometime in December, Apple won't put out another PR statement saying the white iPhone 4 is delayed "until early next year" or some BS!

I gotta say that I'm seconding that this launch of the iphone 4 has been rocky. I want more transparency. If we're not going to get the white iphone till October, announce it. It's similar to the MBP situation. The hype they get from holding out till the last minute leaves ill will and a bad taste in the whole apple experience.
I don't know if it's intentional or they just don't care. I'm going to wait for the white iphone. My upgrade hike (399) will be 199 this January anyways. I also want to see if these Verizon iphone rumors pan out.
I can't wait. I need one by August for school/work and I've been without one for about a month now.
I just don't know when I'll get one, as the black one is sold out pretty much everywhere. I can't get one from the local Apple store because the priority list is 'closed', AT&T, Radioshack, Walmart and Best Buy don't have any... and here's the best part - Apparently Apple told Best Buy to delete the white iPhone SKUs from their systems. Bad omen if I've ever heard one.

What do you think the chances are that Apple will just end up discontinuing the white iPhone? I mean, if they don't release it until December there's not really a point, it seems like it'd just be smarter to wait and release a white iPhone 5.

I was until i heard verizon wireless wasnt getting it. I may still do it...God i'm an addict lol.
It's not being released - the people who work at the Apple store in Cambridge (UK) know nothing about it at least. I rang today and the poor guy literally sighed down the phone and quote "We've heard nothing - I wish they'd stop doing this". I must've been one of many to ring up the day before "launch" and ask for the white iPhone. I also asked about the white iPhone a month or so ago when I gave up waiting and bought my normal i4 - I was again told there was no white iPhone 4 and that I "shouldn't hold my breath".

well just because it is being released does NOT mean they are going to tell you. if that was the case we would know when anything was coming out by just calling a store.
