Beats today announced the upcoming launch of a new collaboration with fragment design founder Hiroshi Fujiwara for a minimalist limited-edition version of the Beats Flex earbuds.

The new black-on-black Beats Flex will be available starting Thursday, November 18 from Apple and SSENSE and will be priced at $69.99.

Beats Flex is the current entry-level Beats earbud product, featuring two earbuds connected by a neckband wire with inline controls and Bluetooth connectivity to paired devices. Beats Flex initially launched just over a year ago priced at $49.99, with the price increasing to $69.99 about six weeks ago.

Beats and Fujiwara have collaborated on several previous projects, including limited-edition Powerbeats Pro in a similar design scheme earlier this year.

I've just been on the SSENSE website, it would appear they told all their models to look miserable and pissed off, seriously they ALL look morose and depressed... like self-entitled teens who wanted an iPhone 13 Pro Max for Christmas and their parents only bought them an iPhone 13 Pro instead and then took a picture of their reaction ☹️

How is this any different than the good old black Beats Flex or Beats X?? Doesn't look that this "Fragment" did anything to it beyond slapping their ugly logo!

iMovie is easy to make. It’s one track of video + audio. Super simple.

Final Cut Pro is insanely difficult. It’s 99 tracks that somehow play back in realtime. Plus 300+ filters.

Likewise, Beats Flex are much simpler than AirPods.

AirPods allow you to double tap on them, in addition to charging wirelessly in a case.

Beats Flex uses hardware buttons from EarBuds in 2010.

So, $79.99 sounds right for something like Beats Flex.

"Limited edition." Limited to how many they can make. ?

Well, the $199 MSRP for Beats Flex is the asking price.

But the $79.99 Black Friday deal is the cheapest they can sell them for.

The $199 MSRP is split among Apple Inc., Beats, Best Buy, Walmart, etc.

Remember the models of the 90's and 00's? They always looked at people like they found you under a rock. It's probably from someone reading a psychology book backwards. People WANT to be treated like 'scum', and it makes them want to buy their clothes, or something. *shrug*

I love Levi's, and t-shirts. It's 'corporate uniform' for me.

Where are you getting an MSRP and asking price of $199 for the Beats Flex?

What? I'm seeing $39.99 for Black Friday. And a retailer is free to sell them for even less than that if they wanted to.

¿Que? ?

They’re honestly really good for using around the house, doing chores, or even video calls, because the cord around the neck keeps you from losing them and you can quickly remove one earbud to listen/talk to someone and just let it dangle. My partner and I both have pairs and use them daily, the battery life is great, and they still have all the great handoff abilities of AirPods that cost 4-5x as much.

I don’t understand why these headphones still exist.
Pricing. Popularity. Marketing.

Beats is still pretty much a staple in this industry, and when consumers aren’t spending prices on earbuds that are in the hundreds, these are affordable and provide adequate sound. It’s really not that difficult why they exist.

The only other consideration that I think is a downfall, is their quality control can be inconsistent.
