The lines on my AirPods seem to be very prominent at certain points, and they seem to be trapping dirt after a week of usage. It's more obvious on the left AirPod in this photo.

Anyone's AirPods are like that too, or did I get a poorly manufactured one?

Another forum member posted on this, about how the adhesive doesn't seem fully sealed all the way through.

You can easily return them for an exchange. Assuming Apple has the available stock.

I posted about this a few days ago. I have same issue. Bunch of smartasses responded and said i cant see it when these are in my ears so I shouldn't care lmao. They obviously don't know anything about apple's design philosophy and how Jobs was adamant about everything being perfect despite no one ever seeing the inside of a product etc.

Anywho, the lines are capturing dust and debris on mine too. I will return mine. I placed an order for another one. Let me know if you are able to exchange in the store. Maybe they have separate stock for repairs and exchanges

Yeah I have that line on mine. Working fine but have saw many videos and pics of sets without. Definitely concerns me

My left AirPod is awful. I'll be calling tomorrow for a replacement. The seams are very obvious, almost like it's not fully joined.

Just a little bump. Curious if anyone else has this as bad as mine are.

Saw in a post somewhere around here where the line was scratching inside of someone's ear raw. Really worries me as my right pod is worst of the two, although both have very visible seams. Coincidentally enough the right pod really seems to irritate that ear. Left pod has visible seem but not as bad and it doesn't irritate ear. Right one always feels like it's "digging" into my ear.

What is the easiest way to exchange these. My local store has no stock and I bought online from Best Buy.

I'll try to get pics of mine in a bit.

My wired EarPods that came with my old iPhone 6 have this same seam join misalignment, although to a somewhat lesser degree.

I'm one of the "smartasses". Here's a pic of one of my AirPods with the line/gap. It doesn't affect the usage and like I said, you can't see it in your ear so who cares. Good luck looking for perfection while I'm enjoying my AirPods. By the way, my wired EarPods have the same thing.

This thread puzzles me. People saying others shouldn't be concerned about widening gaps in the seam. Do none of you exercise with these things? A gap in between the plastic is a flaw which can cause sweat to get into the seam and damage the electronics. Sure they work fine now. But for how long if you regularly work out with them? Mine are starting to do the same, and the seams are starting to get dirty from working out.

I think it's an absolutely valid concern. Especially Fynd's example. Those are bad. I'd take them back to apple for an exchange.

If you're happy with yours, great. Save your comments. But if you have the same concern as others, then this is the place to discuss.

Here are my AirPods that I've owned and delicately cared for. I have owned these for only 1 day and that's basically what they looked like straight out of the box. They are very uncomfortable as I always get a pain in my ears like a pinch after wearing them for 20 minutes. Is very frustrating that first of all, they were out of stock in the time before and after Christmas, they just don't look like they are done right, and its crazy how expensive they are and they can get a seal right.

Yeah that's exactly what happened to me. After about a week or so, the seam was slowly becoming misaligned and it got to the point where I could not physically put them in out of actual pain in my ears. It didn't cause scarring but there were legitimate marks/scratches left behind.

I had them replaced immediately in the store and it's taken a bit of time for me to even put these new ones in as the pain is still lingering as they heal. If it happens again, I'll go in and ask for another replacement and find out what they're going to do if this happens again. Hope this helps lol.

I was wondering if you can return the airpods at anytime during your 1 year warranty and in any location?

You can't return them for a refund/exchange/store credit if that's what you're asking but you can replace a defective part under AppleCare within the first year of purchase at any Apple Store.

You can only return them for a refund within the first 14 days.

That's horrendous. The teardown that ifixit did a while back showed how badly constructed the case was so this isn't exactly surprising. Still, I love mine.
