Exactly this. The trucks are loaded the night before so the drivers can show up in the morning and leave on their routes. They aren't going to search hundreds of trucks for someones package because they want it early.

You had to call ahead yesterday before the trucks were sorted/loaded.

Anyway, I'm here @ UPS. Don't see anybody else. I'll just sit and listen to the TNT podcast for another 20 mins till they open. This is far better than waiting for a truck or waiting in line at a store.

I'm guessing the "special circumstance" here may be that UPS has too many of these things to deliver and they'll be more than happy to let you come get the thing yourself if it saves them a stop on their route.

Ended up being a mini-nightmare waiting for an hour while they figured it all out. Apparently Apple had set a 1 failed delivery requirement before you could pick it up via will call? Anyway, they eventually started finding our phones and bro ting them out, but I was late to work. :-/
