Definitely light and thin.

I got the impression right away that corners had been cut to reduce the amount of material on the links. Maybe I'm used to the Tag links that give a much higher quality feel. I'm sure the Swiss watch makers are having a good laugh at that bracelet. Not much competition for them to worry about.

I am going with the leather loop and sport band combo, leather loop is the best band imo.

Reducing the amount of stainless steel would save an insignificant amount of money in the cost of the watch. The cost is nearly all in machining, polishing, and assembling. The cost of the stainless steel in negligible in comparison.

If Apple made the band thinner and lighter compared to current styles from the Swiss companies, it was to make it more comfortable, not to make it cheaper.

Maybe the Swiss Reality Distortion Field has convinced a lot of watch customers that big, chunky stainless steel bracelets are "high quality" just because of the extra weight. But if that extra weight doesn't satisfy an engineering need (strength, durability, etc.), then it's just fashion.

I see plenty of fashion reasons to prefer Apple's link bracelet more or less than a typical bracelet from Tag, Rolex, etc. But I haven't seen any quality reasons so far.

Some Swiss link bracelets have a fine-adjustment feature to change the size by a fraction of a link. The Apple bracelet doesn't have a fine adjustment, which is too bad.

Arg!!! The link bracelet feels WAY too light. It feels like a Fossil watch I got from Macy's when I was 13. It looks beautiful but it has such a tinny feel. For a thousand bucks I want some heft in my bracelet!

Really wish I hadn't canceled my 42mm space gray sport, but I don't want to lose my May 14th shipping date for the SS

Wow. I found the link, milanese, and leather loop to be of the exactly correct weight and feel. OK, to be completely honest, I found the link to be 0.0023 grams too light. But I'll overlook that.

I don't mind other opinions. But hyperbole and exaggeration, i.e. "WAY" and lots of other examples, drive me crazy and remove any credibility from the poster. That of course is only how it affects me. Others may like and accept the exaggeration.

Sheesh everyone wants to crap on the link bracelet for almost any reason the last two days. Most of them sound ridiculous. Sounds to me like price envy or just a misunderstanding of fashion...

My try on is in an hour, I don't expect any opinion changes.

it drives you crazy, huh? :p

Everyone here is right; the Apple watch is incredibly subjective and everyone has different aesthetics. Just thought I'd share my opinion after trying it on

I don't like heavy bracelets. I really don't like how Tag makes them. It feels annoying on my wrist, much more so than just a heavy case. Rolex has much lighter bands which I much prefer. They hollow out some of the links intentionally to make it lighter.

Not concerned about the weight.

I have not seen one in person and just going by the pictures...

I was hoping a shiny polish like the SS watch itself but it looks dull and flat and appears mismatched in the pictures I have seen.

This is ridiculous. Why would the weight of he bracelet ever be considered? Beyond that, why would you want a heavy bracelet??

It's perfectly designed - tough yet elegant and easy to wear.

The slight mismatch is indeed a drawback. However, the advantage of having it brushed is any scratches on it will be far less noticeable compared to a polished chrome link bracelet.

Case in point, my platinum wedding band started out as a shiny polish. The first few scratches I induced on it were a big eyesore and annoyed the hell out of me. However, fast forward 15 years the many scratches come together to form what people call a patina and it now looks cohesive.

Yeah, I think it looks a little odd to have the matte bracelet without any matte elements on the watch itself. My guess is that it would look better if the side of the links were polished, like the older Rolex bracelets. Matte on top, polished on the sides.

And if they made it heavier, which holds no benefit, people would complain it's too heavy/they feel like they're weightlifting

Am I the only person that thinks these things should be as light as possible?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if durability and strength arent compromised, why isn't lighter considered better?

So much hate for the $1k Watch.

Well, many on these forums were saying the Sports watch lacked quality simply because it was too light in weight.

i agree with the OP also. I was expecting it to be a lot heavier also.

its all a personal preference i guess, I'm used to heavy watches e.g. my Omega Seamaster Pro Planet Ocean band is heavier than the complete Apple watch itself plus more and i like that feel on my wrist.

I like the weight of it. As someone who doesn't wear dumb watches, I was pleasantly surprised that wearing it wasn't going to be like a weighted wrist band in the gym. I'm just worried about the precision of fit... The try-on appointment was absolutely useless in that regard...

Everybody should have gotten the clue from the widely advertised stock photo below that it'd be light.
