I love that Apple is doing this but my inner conspiracy-theorist says that these scumbag companies are rolling over too easy and have just found a different way to track us.
This is on point.
Also, when all this “ask not to track” privacy move came about I read it as ask not to track period and not “please do continue tracking just without using IDFA, thanks” that companies seem to be interpreting it as...

I’m expecting a couple of things, but I don’t know much, so I could be wrong:
- This is just the beginning and hopefully down the line it will be enforced more harshly for those that still continue to track in a myriad of different ways besides IDFA.
- Not actually a huge change on the sellers bottomline, creating potential turmoil and marketing services discontent when businesses realize that maybe they have been paying for an over-engineered way of reaching users when a simpler more old school approach could have been just as efficient.

Is it any wonder... for years now, decades even, we have been sold the promise that by giving away our data en masse and not asking any questions about who is collecting it, how it is being used and of course 'why', we would get 'personalized' ads that are more 'relevant' and even with reduced 'frequency'. If anything, the ads have gotten less relevant, more frequent and even more annoying. It's not working nearly as well as one would hope considering the underlying technology and data available, but 'they' just keep wanting to double down over and over and hope we turn a blind eye.

I've been involved in the technical implementation of targeted and interactive advertising (and still am peripherally) in a variety of capacities since the dot com era and I still get a chuckle at the 'click on Jennifer Aniston's sweater during a Friends episode and have it delivered to your home' nonsense that was (and still is surprisingly in various forms) proffered as a more desirable experience than having ads pooped in between content segments while you head to the kitchen to raid the fridge or visit the water closet to evacuate your nether regions.
This is why I use ad blockers and tracker blockers. I also recommend Proton VPN as it blocks ads and trackers at the server level:

“many do not believe that users will consent to being tracked across apps for ad personalization purposes.”

And they would be correct, I do not want to be tracked ACROSS apps, it is none of their business what i do in my banking, insurance, government or health apps. (Information of any kind should NEVER leave those apps.) If Facebook wants to track me WITHIN the their app, ok , as I have next to zero says anyway.

I think you misunderstand what IDFA is. It’s for tracking the users device. Logged in or not to a service.
If LinkedIn wants to cut a deal with Facebook there is nothing stopping them from both tracking you and exchanging info about you. LinkedIn requires you to be logged in to use it in any meaningful way.

more importantly, LinkedIn now wants you to sign in to view a persons profile when you click on it from a Google search. This has been a more recent change lately. This is not a privacy setting be the end user on LinkedIn btw.

Dare I ask what a Pi-hole is in terms of internet privacy?? I already know the street definition lol.

LOL, you may indeed ask...
