I find it annoying that you lost the functionality of dragging windows to the edge of the desktop to change which space they were in. That was a nice feature.

I thought that was missing too until I accidentally did it ... it works and it sure is a nice feature!

I just tried this out, works very well. However, how do you make it so that the full screened apps go where you want them to? They just seem to pick a random space. Would be good if, in 10.7.1, apple added the option to rearrange the desktops simply by clicking and dragging.

Go into the Mission Control System Preference and turn off automatic reordering of Desktops based on last use.

\\ but the Mac Pro has had the same oversized, heavy, outdated design since the PowerMac G5 in 2003... That's 8 years of the same box...
:apple:

I don't follow you... unless they switch to notebook drives, or only two internal hard drives rather than four, or let the body of the chassis sit directly on the floor, or build it out of cheap plastic (a la Dell/Compaq), it's as well-designed as you can make it. Fiddling with the curves of the feet, or some innocuous "improvement" would be pointless. The G5 interior concept...and now the MacPro interior...were/are as lovely as they can be, and having it made of aluminum is great. If you want a piece of plastic with everything jammed in, in an unscientific, unaesthetic sort of way, with less effective cooling and fewer modular possibilities, you could always buy one of those cheap mini desktops at BestBuy. Then you can throw it out when you get bored and not feel bad! Enjoy!

Ya know, the iMacs are lovely, tightly packed, and you can't open them up and puzzle over space vs. no-space. Maybe you're really an iMac person and you don't know it yet? Nothing wrong with that.

oh thats great! i had problems sometimes when moving things around in spaces or needing some programs to work across spaces, this is definitely a plus, Thanks! :D

Agreed. You can't move app from main screen on one space to secondary screen on another space or vice-versa. The all desktops thing, the hot corner activation of screensaver goes off and back on. Bad job Steve. Bad job!

This is major improvement to Spaces. It was a huge PITA to assign apps to Spaces in SL.

You mean a System Preferences location where you can drag and drop applications and set the space they open up in is more difficult than putting it in the dock or opening it and then assigning which desktop to go into (whilst making sure you're on the current desktop you want to go to) is easier? I beg to differ.

Me too on this- does everyone experience this issue? I have an app (MS Entourage) assigned to all desktops. However, after a while, it "forgets" and the app windows appear only in one space. I have to reassign it to all desktops every once in a while to fix it.

Assign to All Desktops doesn't work for Messages.app

Assign to All Desktops (or specific ones) has been working great for me, using the method described at the beginning of this thread. For some reason, however, the three desktop options do not appear for messages.app. I'd like this one to appear on all desktops. As far as I've been able to tell, messages.app is the only app for which these three options are not available.

Any ideas?
