But is there a pattern, for instance, all people on a certain model/year?
No clue, but I'm on a brand new MBA and have no problem with checking mail on my iPhone and then on my Mac. It's all there.
The only thing that bugs me a little bit is that new messages appear in the inbox, but then they also appear in all of my Gmail folders. So I get a new message in the inbox, and it says I also have a new message in All Mail or one of my addresses that gets picked up by my mail Gmail account. Reading the message in the inbox does not mark it read in the other folder. I have to do that manually. I do not want to get rid of the folders, because I like having all of my All Mail folder on my computer, so I don't have to sign into Gmail to search for older stuff, but I'd like it to automatically be marked as read.
I can't tell you why you're losing emails, but I may be able to help with the search problem.
I was searching for a message containing a particular phrase yesterday, but for some reason, mail wouldn't find it. Spotlight on the other hand, found the email just fine. After a little Googling, I found the suggestion to "Rebuild" my mailbox. I did this with all my mail folders, and now search within mail works fine.
To do it, I selected all my mail folders, then selected "Rebuild" from the "Mailbox" menu.
Has anyone found a fix for this that's worked yet? Seems like a pretty major flaw for Apple to have let get through the testing phase.
The password thing is driving me nuts and its really difficult to get any work done. At random points through the day, Mail will forget the password for one of the 5 or 6 email accounts we use and force you to re-enter it. Problem is, often, if you re-enter it, it still thinks its wrong so won't let you send/receive any mails.

Do NOT use POP this way. It was not designed for it. You will continue to lose emails if you do.
POP mail MUST be pulled into ONE device only. I suggest it be your desktop.
If you want to use e-mail from both, use IMAP. If your e-mail provider does not support this, get a proper e-mail provider.
You're right, it can be done. But you have to know exactly what you're doing. And even then I can't recommend it. This is me speaking as a UNIX system administrator.
POP was not designed to be used in this way. IMAP was.

I have difficulty sending mail since I downloaded Lion. MobileMe Chat tells me to 1. check online mail 2. delete mail account 3. open new mail account 4 force quit mail 5 open mail and wait a couple of minutes.
I do this routine sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.
It disrupts the date record in my Sent mail so I'm losing track of myself.
I'm in Costa Rica. Do you think this is about our minor and frequent hits to the intregrity of the internet signal here in this developing country?
Any other good ideas?
Ever since installing Lion, my e-mail account appears DOUBLE in my inbox;
i.e., I have only ONE active e-mail account (IMAP) but this account appears TWICE (identical) in my Inbox (and Sent box). I'm also asked my password twice (or multiple times), when logging in into Mail.
I don't find any difference in these mailboxes, and can't manually delete either one of them.
Anyone that can refer or solve this problem ? Have been reading this section, without finding a similar problem reported.
