Has to be released to devs first, so they can check it doesn't break any of their apps. Early 10.7.1 builds *might* have already been released to select developers (like Microsoft and Adobe), but we don't know that. As no update has yet been announced we are probably still 2 or 3 weeks away from a public update.

Hoping pretty soon. It's annoying having to turn Wifi off then back on again every time my MBP wakes up.

Amen to that. I got sick of it so I downgraded to 10.6.8. I couldn't stand having my Dr. Who episodes interrupted every 5 seconds....

So I am holding off until 10.7.1. comes out. God willing it's sometime soon.

You realize that point releases are always seeded to developers first, right? It doesn't matter whether they are just bug fixes or not.

In fact you can search "seeded to developers" on Macrumors and find a post about every single OS X point release since 10.2 (i.e. when Macrumors was launched in 2003) getting seeded to developers before its public release.

Has 10.7.1 been released to developers? No, because it won't.

P.s.: Let me explain better by rephrasing what I've just said: 10.7.1 is a "shrink-wrap" bug-fix release that was already virtually ready following Lion's release.

In other words, it's not going to be open to developer feedback, because it's just part of a closed package to be distributed by Apple early next week (most probably). Developers are already working on the basis of 10.7.2, which will simply come on top of that first bug-fix release. All other point releases will follow suit as usual, always as developer seeds...

Its already been mentioned. BRLawyer is right they are using 10.7.1 for bug fixes. We are already testing the second revision of 10.7.2 (which is miles ahead of the last 10.7.2 release!)

After I downgraded my desktop to 10.6.8 it felt so smooth to operate. It also felt like an OS for experienced users. This weekend I downgraded the laptop to SL. Other than full disk encription I'm not missing very much that was Lion only. I'll take another look at Lion in a few months maybe.

I'll be sure to bookmark this thread so I can let you guys know when 10.7.1 is seeded to developers.

I've downgraded too from Lion to SL 10.6.8 by way of an external USB drive and I agree, it's so much better. When the fixes come out I'll see if it is more stable then. If not, I'll revert back to SL on my iMac and MBP.

So let me get this straight: 10.7.2 has been seeded one or two weeks ago, while 10.7.1 is still nowhere to be seen - then next week, 10.7.1 is distributed to developers so that they can take a look at a PREVIOUS point release and discover problems, whose solutions will THEN have to be ported over to 10.7.2.

In conclusion, after at least three full weeks of analysis we're gonna get 10.7.1, and then two or three weeks thereafter, we'll have 10.7.2?

Answer: NO.

We'll see.

I actually think they may release 10.7.2 directly this time. 10.7.1 might have been internal. If iCloud will launch with the September iPod event, then it'll be in couple of weeks. So 10.7.2 will have to be released in couple of weeks. No reason to release 10.7.1 before that.
What the heck is the steptember iPod event?

Apple always holds a September event for iPods, renews iTunes, and it's probable that they'll release iCloud, iOS 5, iTunes 10.5 at that event, meaning 10.7.2 have to be released as well.

That's of course a guess, but it's pretty much seems like that's what they are going to do.

On the phone with AppleCare folks today. Said that they are getting documentation referencing 10.7.1. Should be any day.....

Going slightly off topic but also related hopefully they will also announce the next iPhone at that event.

This is what puzzles me, too. Has Apple "skipped over" a release to developers like this before? If the devs are already using 10.7.2 right now (fine, maybe only for the sole purpose of testing iCloud), then wouldn't they have to "downgrade" to 10.7.1 once Apple seeds it to them? Has this ever happened?

Apple does have a targeted schedule for these things. Somebody knows. They aren't just released on a whim.

As far as the "whining" goes... without complaints about bugs there would never be any reason to release an update... ever.

Most of you are like wahhhh my screen bar # 86644.6 doesn't turn pink with blue bubbles if I want it to wahhhh give me snow leopard! Not anything important or major. Patience is a virtue.

Also, most of us who keep our things nice and the way they should be are still having zeeerroooo problems.

I'm not whining you understand, but it would be nice to get thru a session of Safari without it taking down my entire system. On my 2011 iMac. MBP is okay. OBTW, I don't believe you. Zeeeerroooo????? Gimme a break!

Interesting. I was sure that didn't happen with 10.2.8 - I thought 10.2.7 was only available for a few hours then pulled due to its messing up batteries (IIRC), and then 10.2.8 released the next day, or certainly too soon after to have hit devs at least. And ... .7.2 is .2.7 backwards, perhaps it's time for another anomaly  ;).

Apple has not skipped over any releases to developers, at least since 10.2. It is not unprecedented for developers to receive a later version before an earlier one is released (to the public, at least). Last year, 10.6.6 was seeded to developers (to test the Mac App Store) before 10.6.5 was out of beta. So the only difference in this case is that we have yet to see 10.7.1 at all...but I'm sure that we will.

You could be right, I don't remember which version precisely is the earliest mentioned on Macrumors.

Where are you getting your info? How about something to backup your comments other than speculations.

An update can't come soon enough... My new freakin' expensive Air has so many problems.

And a pet peeve of mine, "instant-on"? Not anymore in Lion...

10.7.1 will be released Monday, August 15th at 10:00AM PST.

The new Spaces mode option in Mission Control will work identically to SL for those who choose to switch it back.

Apple has listened to its customers and decided that the faux leather in iCal and the Address Book themes were both unprofessional and inconsistent with the overall UI, therefore both themes have been removed. For those who like it, rumor is there will be a third party theme called "Freddy's Fun Pack" which will include these themes along with a plush purple polkadot velvety theme for Finder and a safari jeep theme for Safari with wheels at the bottom that rotate when you move the window from side to side.

10.7.1 will fix all your problems. More details about it later.
