Okay, so yesterday i went into the Apple store (Australia), talked to the sales person and asked about this Up-to-date free Lion deal and he said he had no idea what that was. He even went to his manager to ask, but still they knew nothing about it. my research has so far shown me that i will be able to redeem this offer. Just a bit confused as to why the Apple staff did not know about it.

lol its $29 to upgrade.. if you purchased a $1500+ iMac I'm sure $29 wont break the bank.

Again, the point here is not ability to afford Lion. I could afford Lion even if it's priced $129. Of course anyone out there who has spend thousands $$$ for Mac would be able to spend "just" another $29.99 for OS upgrade.

But it's not about the price, it's about reward and generosity of Apple. Including Lion upgrade as free update for people who purchased Macs close to the launch date is sweet.

Up to Date

So, if all Macs bought on or after June 6th are eligible and the up-to-date program requires the owner request the free update within 30 days of purchase, does this mean Lion will be released prior to July 6th? My guess is July 1!

No it does not mean that at all actually. June 6th was the date given because that's when WWDC was. You will probably be given a promo code or something to be used when Lion is released. I will be very surprised if Lion is released in the first half of July.

The Mac OS X Lion Up-To-Date upgrade is available at no additional charge via the Mac App Store to all customers who purchased a qualifying new Mac system from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 6, 2011. Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer. Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to make a request.

Is this purposely ambiguous?

Do they mean?
Users must request their Up-To-Date upgrade within 30 days of purchase of their Mac computer AND Customers who purchase a qualifying Mac between June 6, 2011 and the date when Lion is available in the Mac App Store will have 30 days from Lion’s official release date to DOWNLOAD.

If it is AND then I would expect that seeing as I bought my new MBP on the 6th then there must be a way to register before the 6th of July regardless of when Lion is officially released.. The link provided here http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ has no way to register yet. How much time will they give us to register?

Here we go!

"There has been an error with the system. The administrators have been informed, please try again later."
This is the message you get when trying to register for the uptodate Lion OS program. The serial is not recognized by the system.

This isn't happening for everybody, I got mine earlier with no problem! Now it's just the agonizing wait until I go to lunch and get on a fast wireless connection to download Lion.

Does Lion Email bypass blocked Port 25?

Several popular ISPs block Port 25, thus preventing me from responding directly to sites such as Craigslist. Does Lion "Inline Control" allow one to
respond to sites such as CL? Thanks.
