This is sort of off topic but I just ordered a refurbished 15" 2.0 and I was wondering if you guys think it would come with lion pre-installed or with SL with an eligible free upgrade? From the sounds of it, it seems best to fresh install lion without SL, so I will most likely try that

most likely comes with SL ... and Lion will not be like Vista

Never had a problem with Vista personally. It ran great for me.

I usually just dismissed those that complained about it as Microsoft haters or people who didn't know much about computers.

As for Lion, it's alright. Don't really notice a huge difference between Lion and Snow Leopard other than the fact that I can no longer drag a window via tap-to-click ... I have to use the 3 finger drag gesture.

It's annoying but I'll get used to it.

Lion is not bad. My MBP came pre installed with it. Im sure Apple will tweak it to perfection within the next few months. My only gripe is mission control. I still have to get used to it

Update.. All fixed. Just a little fine tuning of the mouses mission control setting

I don't see what there is to get used to in Mission Control. It's pretty much identical to Expose.

My only gripe with Lion is the gesture options are not as flexible as Snow Leopard. Only God with his infinite wisdom knows why I cannot choose to have 'Show Desktop' activate with 4 finger swipe upwards (the way it was on Snow Leopard).

Simple troubleshooting would have told you the drivers were at fault. heck there were news stories about it less than a week after Vistas release.

Vista ran stable on 6 computers in my house, but they were all ATi or Intel graphics.

Yeah, simple troubleshooting. When the computer blue screens for no reason at random times, in different apps, using a brand new operating system that just came out. Naturally you would think it's the GPU driver

I fixed the issue. I am now able to see each application i have open in its own seperate window as opposed to grouping them. I just had to change the settings on my mouse. All good.

It is not, as it aggregates windows by application. You need a second gesture to ungroup the application "cluster".

If you use a logitech mouse, Under mission control sub menu, Pick the all windows settings

I installed Lion a week ago on my mid 2010 MBP Core i7 2.66ghz.

I noticed lagging animation when shifting through tabs in the 'about this mac' section. The lack of proper Expose and the TRIM bug for 3rd party SSDs didnt help, so I ditched it and went back to Snow Leopard.

Poor update to OS X, not worth even the $30 price tag.

Hey guys, so I am getting my MacBook Pro 15 2.0 Thursday and I just wanted to know what everyones thoughts were one Lion? I have heard many people say that it's the Vista of OS X, which I highly doubt, and makes me believe that the person who makes such remarks has never been forced to use vista (like me). There's no way it can be that bad, but at the same time I haven't had a chance to try it yet. But I see all kinds of forums touting tips on how to "fix" Lions annoyances. I would just like to know what the majority thinks instead of tech article writers.

TLDR: Is lion as bad as vista?

To quote Steve Jobs, "We Disagree".

You would if you took the time to look at the codes the blue screens were giving you. Then yes, you would know it was the GPU.

Lion isn't Vista at all, I'm loving it so far, definitely would recommend the upgrade. Just FYI, I did a clean install instead of the upgrade.

Back when I had Vista on my gaming machine I liked it. Everything worked with no problems. *shrug* Maybe I got lucky. I much preferred Windows 7 though, and then OS X more then that.
